Holy Grail - casual yet elegant jacket

I’m 48 and a size 12 hourglass figure. I dress smartly for work, mostly Hobbs, Boden, Cefinn (RIP) and LK Bennett and a wool wrap coat or fitted peacoat on top. I wear mainly dresses or smart trousers with a shirt and a tank top. Not much in terms of risk taking but I enjoy what I wear. Unfortunately my casual wardrobe is a bit less sorted…..

Most days I either wear wide leg trousers and a t-shirt or polo neck, or a short dress. Thick tights and loafers on cold days, trainers on warmer days. But I just don’t have a jacket to wear. I want something I can wear with a smart dress and knee high boots, and with trousers and a jumper, but I just can’t find anything. In winter I can just throw on a wrap coat or a pea coat and I’m fine, but I really need something for the in between days. A trench makes me look like Mrs Trunchbull (it’s my DNA) and a denim jacket just looks wrong. Any other inspiration? I’ve discounted raincoats because I already have one, this is a search for something smarter but still casual. I’m keen on blazers but I just can’t make them look casual enough.

I’m desperate.

Or a poncho. I’ll take anything…..

Sezane Will jacket in suede?

Having said no to denim, that style in the denim is quite nice. I’m a bit weary of my capabilities when it comes to looking after suede long term but OMG the honey leather jacket is stunning.

I have this which is a bit like a coatigan, no buttons, semi fitted, neutral colour. It looks smart over a dress etc, but also looks great with trousers and t-shirt/hoody and trainers. It's incredibly versatile. It's the perfect weight for spring and autumn. One of my best ever buys.

Decent bomber jacket?

I was going to suggest the Sézane Will jacket. I have one in khaki and it’s so, so useful.

Also loving the look of the Will in leather. Is it true to size?

Quite generous for a loose fit.

I have the Will in khaki suede - I just sprayed it with a decent protector when I got it, and get on with wearing it. It’s beautiful soft suede, but not ‘delicate’.
