Comfortable Trainers

I am planning a week in France, walking a lot. I have seriously rubbish feet that hurt like buggery after a very short period of time. But I want to try and walk as much as possible and enjoy the trip.

I do own a pair of Sketchers trainers, but they have been thrown in the washing machine numerous times and are now saggy. I wore them a few weeks ago to walk along the seafront ..... and after an hour or so I was ouching.

Just to add, it is the bottoms of my feet that hurt, namely the balls of my feet. I have a crazy stupidly high instep.

Any recommendations?

Go for walking shoes from a proper outdoors shop. They look like trainers but made for walking!

ASICS are my most comfortable flat trainers

I have v high arches too and like ASICS and my Sorel walking boots. But also here for ideas!

Fitflop Rally. I can walk for miles in them and I have stupid feet!

Another vote for fitflop 👍

If you have a high instep I would recommend Adidas Gazelle trainers.

I have completely flat feet and they feel like I have golf balls in my trainers.

Go to a running shop and get fitted. If you have wide feet I recommend brooks, hoka are great for narrow feet.

Fitflop are sooo comfy but gave me plantar fasciitis! I tried Strive and felt as though there was a weird hard lump pushing the mid foot upward, really uncomfortable.
I've had the best luck with Geox and Ecco trainers, but even so I find I need to wear different trainers regularly - swap them about - otherwise my knees object!

M&S slip on knit trainers. They go everywhere! Stretchy, flexible, comfortable and inexpensive. Just don’t go in huge puddles.

Thank you everyone. I ordered a pair of the Fitflop Rally. They are arriving today, so I will give them a test walking around the house.

Many thanks for all the suggestions.
