Super-glam dress needed.

I'm not a particularly glamourous person, far more at home in walking boots and Mountain Warehouse than high-heels and Dior. However, I need to look glamourous for my uncle's 80th birthday party in November in Monaco. His side of the the family are all tall, gorgeous and far wealthier than I am.

I need something gorgeous to wear, to fit in with the more cosmopolitan side of the family, who all seem so effortlessly chic in comparison. I am 5"2, skinny, pale and blonde. I like the less out-there dresses from Needle and Thread, but willing to try anything. It would be nice to look a little bit sexy, but I know it is only a dress, not a magic wand (I'm very late 30's).

Have about £300 to spend.
Thanks in advance.

The Outnet usually have gorgeous evening dresses so are worth checking out. I really like Norma Kamali’s Diana dress which they often have in various colours, although not sure whether that’s glam enough.

Have you considered vinted/eBay as you could no doubt get a dress you want for a reasonable price ,also worth looking in TKMaxx.

In my limited experience of these Monaco type circles you will fit right in being slim, blond, and petite - height really not a big factor for women tbh. Also god help us all if you think women in their late 30s cannot be sexy!

The Outnet is always good. I actually like Victoria Beckham's dresses too, the fabric hangs well. Have you thought about renting a designer dress? Much cheaper than buying outright. I've used By Rotation and it was a smooth process.

Would be hard not to look a little bit sexy in anything from:

Realisation Par

but they are also rather lovely pure silk dresses.

However, if those are insufficiently formal I agree you might do best to rent something properly grand and expensive. Up to date suggestions below - don’t dismiss the idea until you’ve actually read the details of the various providers, it’s much easier and less worrisome than you’d imagine:
