Looking for this shape but v neck

Streatfeild · 07/09/2025 22:32

Tried this on in John Lewis. Loved the shape on me but neck too high. Ideally I would like it in v neck. Also ideally not wool/cashmere.

I tried the light brown but it’s the shape I liked - the sleeves and the length.

Any leads?

Are you sure?

I agree that a v neckline would be better, but (please, please don’t hate me!) I’d say that is the worst possible sleeve shape for you. They end just at your waist, and, being wide, give the impression of a very wide horizontal line cutting you in half. They’re honestly not flattering.

You’d be much better off with this sort of jumper shape:

Asos

White Company

(Sorry, you said not wool - but there are plenty that aren’t.)

Bizarre comment. We all have different body shapes so how do you know what suits the OP?
Personally I also prefer a dolman sleeve as I am a triangle and have an angular frame. The two examples you've posted from ASOS and White Company would not suit me at all as they're fitted under the arm. Maybe OP is the same.

Ah, OP, I have a similar body shape to you and also need a V-neck... and I think the pp is spot on.

The top she suggests with a V-neck and buttons (but no collar) is called a Henley, and if I get the right one they are super flattering on me. Always undo the top few buttons to get the V effect. I

But to answer your question, here's a suggestion:

Because there’s a photo in the post

Excellent advice from pp about going for a longer sleeve with the v-neck. You have chosen a lovely colour combination.

@TryingAgainAgainAgain - no, I specifically linked polo necked tops with a collar as the collar tends to elongate the upper body.

Oh, I missed the collar on the ASOS one, and thought that bit was optional. Would this work?

Actually it's just a shirt. I should probably just lurk on S&B... 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’d also say the vertical ribbing on polo neck tops is wonderfully flattering.

To my eye, a change of colour between top and skirt at that point of your waist is not necessarily the best choice, OP. I think a slightly longer top would be better - but in either case I suspect tonal dressing would be great on you.
