Birkenstock Santa Clarita Mary Jane’s? Will I regret buying?

I’m being stalked by these and quite fancy a pair. Trousers/ jeans look better on me if there’s a bit of a gap - so low cut trainers for example - so I’m thinking these could be a different option.I also have difficult feet and love my Birkenstock sandals. But are they reasonably stylish ? I’m just about to turn 60 and wore the Mary Jane style the first couple of times round!

I think they look a bit like school shoes! I am 63 and I wouldn't wear them but I subscribe to the school of wear what you want so if you like them go for it.

I’m a decade younger than you and considering buying these too - I think they’d work well with slightly cropped barrel leg trousers and they look like they’d be comfortable.

I think they are overpriced and there are more interesting Mary Jane styles becoming available, so look around at what else is available before you commit to these. If you like this particular 'school shoe' look you may well be able to get actual 'senior girls' school shoes' if your feet aren't huge.... and that would be vastly cheaper.

Thanks everyone. Think I'll mull it over a bit more and look at cheaper alternatives - expensive mistake to make if it ends up that way!

I love a good MaryJane shoe. I also love my Birkenstocks.

I’m not convinced that these ‘work’? I recently bought 2 pairs of the new Fitflop ones. And I want the diamond buckle ones next.

I have these. Had them for years and never actually worn them as they’re a size too big. Very good quality though. I keep meaning to investigate insoles to try and make them fit better.

Ooh @NotsosunnyShropshire I hadn’t thought of Fitflop! I have Fitflop sandals and love them. The diamond buckle shoes are fab

I’m 42 and tried these on recently - they were cute but very narrow- I had to size up- and then I couldn’t get the strap done. I don’t have a particularly high instep so I was a bit flummoxed.

Homegrownberries · 07/09/2025 16:45

They're at least worth trying on. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I’ve just received these in the red am
49 and bloody love them, I don’t care what anyone else thinks though!
