Dyson Airwrap or Shark?

Mathsdebator · 06/09/2025 21:49

I'm terrible at doing my hair (thick, just below shoulder length) and I've been tempted by a tool dryer for ages.

Sharks are obviously way cheaper (although still very expensive) and I'm wondering if Dyson is truly worth the extra.

Has anyone had / used both and can help me out please?

Imo,airwrap is better. More versatile. Better results
Airwrap are available refurbished on Dyson site or eBay

What result are you trying to achieve? I've used the soft brush on the dyson since it first came out, it's fab because the bristles pivot to direct the airflow along the shaft of the hair.

Dyson is massively overrated, in addition to being an unethical company.

If that’s how you feel, don’t buy Dyson then. Easy as that
It is up to other consumers if they chose to buy Dyson. I have both the Airwrap and Airstrait and both have been a game changer. Easy to use, long lasting results

I have a Dyson Airstriait ( like a straightening iron with built in dryer ) my hair is wavy but really fragile .

Also used to have a Dyson hairdryer until my DD took possession .
The dryer has a cute round plug .
The Airstrait has a plug the size of half a brick (ok slight exaggeration) but trickier to fit in a socket near the floor . I took it on holiday , the power points were right above the dressing table so useless !

Still love it , great piece of kit .
No idea re Shark
Hated the Babyliss Big Hair

Shark is significantly hotter and causes more heat damage. You can of course use heat protectant spray to mitigate the high temperature

I always just dry my hair straight (I've tried curling wands / using straighteners to curl etc over the years but I just can't do it!

I'm hoping for some messy curls!

I absolutely love my Shark and I don’t find it damages my hair. There are lots of heat settings if you find it too hot on the hottest. My friend has the Dyson and finds it damages her hair but she gets highlights every 4- 6 weeks. Use a good conditioning mask once a week and you shouldn’t have any problems
