Help with this cord shirt please!

I’m trying to wear more shirts.
I’m generally very casual in my dress (walking trousers/fleece/sweatshirt/sporty shorts) and I don’t want to look smart as such, just more put-together.

I bought this cord shirt from vinted as I saw a lady wearing a green cord shirt and long skirt and she looked great.

I seem unable to pull it off.
Tucked in gives loads of extra bulk around my waist.
Untucked looks awful!
I opted for a vest top and open shirt in the end.
How do I pull off this look please???

I think it doesn't work with the skirt because the fabric of the shirt is too thick for the light fabric of the skirt.

Try the shirt with heavier denim, either a skirt or jeans. It might work better.

The shape of the puff sleeves makes you look top heavy too. Are your hips narrower than your shoulders? If you are an inverted triangle shape with shoulders wider than your hips the shirt is going to add more width to your shoulders. A pleated skirt or gathered skirt will add more balance to your shape rather than a bias cut or straight skirt.

The skirt is completely wrong. It's too pale and too thin material. It's also an odd shape. It's tiered but oddly looks the same width all the way down.

You're very slim. I think a heavier weight fabric skirt, possibly something belted, would work better.

agree that skirt is wrong. Maybe skinny jeans, tank top and just have it over the top, maybe fasten the bottom buttons and roll back the sleeves
