Bars of soap

I’ve just found of my favourite soap has been discontinued- Yorkshire soap company Fullers Earth. I have extremely dry skin and severe eczema on my palms and soles of my feet. I can’t seem to use any shower gels without a reaction, same with liquid hand soaps.

I’ve been using fullers earth for about 5 years, both in the shower and at basins so I’m so disappointed it’s gone!

has anyone found any other soaps they can recommend?

I use Olive oil bar soap. I have very dry skin on my hands that gets drier, irritated and cracked from any scent or harsh chemicals. I think Holland and Barrett might do one, I use Little Soap Company Olive Oil soap from Sainsbury or Waitrose and it works really well.

Dalan Antique - it’s an olive oil soap from Turkey. I normally stock up when I’m there but you can get it on Amazon and Home Bargains. It is divine, I feel incredibly clean. My husband, who has psoriasis - is also a big fan - he is medicated and under control for his condition but is still incredibly fussy about what he uses on his skin.

If you can get Aleppo soap then it’s amazing. Savin du Marseille is fantastic if you get the olive oil and not the palm oil versions. Same with Dalam soap. Not the same history but similar recipe and good if you can’t get SdM or Aleppo

The best soap for my skin I ever used was New Ewe sheeps milk soap. I bought it in a cheese shop in Lincoln strangely enough

I think its discontinued or the firm doesnt exist anymore, been trying to find it for a few years, it was incredible.

Thats lovely, I think I had the lavender one and also a lemony one from memory.

Alot of people with eczema find goats milk soap soothing to use.

They look gorgeous. I have about ten years worth of soap to use though so really can’t justify buying more!

Thanks for the recommendation . My son has very irritated skin too , I've ordered some for him.
Might try slicing it up smaller , the reviews say the bars are big !

That’s a good idea about slicing @70isaLimitNotaTarget- they are sizeable bars. Keep an eye out in HB/B&M - both go through phases of stocking for about 95p a bar.

My DH is going to Turkey soon, he is armed with a list of Things To Bring Back , so if this soap is good for DS skin then it might be on the Wish List Wink

Highland Soap company do a whole range of really nice soaps. Otherwise L'occitane also do really nice shea milk & lavendar soap bars.

IggyAce · 06/09/2025 23:11

Scottish fine soap company Sea Kelp, lovely and creamy with a light fragrance.

Miriabelle · 06/09/2025 23:11

My skin reacts to the fragrance added to soap or shower gel, even if it’s meant to be hypoallergenic. I can only use Simple bar soap (Waitrose also does a plain unscented bar soap).
