DIY Nails

I can't afford regular gel nails & normal nail varnish barely lasts a day (& that's assuming I don't smudge it straightaway) but trying to up my game in the S&B stakes so looking for an at home/DIY long lasting nails solution.
I've seen Sassy Saint advertised - any good? Or there's the Mylee starter kit for gels but bit nervous about this sort of investment only to find it's awful/I'm useless at it. Any decent stick ons? I swim regularly so conventional stick-ons wouldn't last but maybe the think ones do. Want to avoid anything containing TPO.

Anyone found the holy grail of DIY nails?

I've found the best thing for me now to look groomed is nails cut short and just apply two coats of Dior vernis base coat. It's transparent with a very slight creamish tone, lasts about a week and it's so subtle it doesn't show much as it wears off. I'm in my early 60s and now hate the look of older hands with any coloured varnish and toes with bright colours, it's not flattering.

if you are considering getting a lamp to do gells at home, I would recommend manicurist green flash. It sets like a gel but it is so much easier to remove. Really happy with it and doesn’t destroy your nails (or takes ages) to take to off. Plenty of nice colours too.

It also doesn’t have the ingredient that people can develop allergic reactions too.
