I'm trying to get DS out of wearing only trackie/jogging bottoms this autumn and winter.

He's 13 and showing no interest in looking online with me.

I could do with some recommendations and links please.

My son really likes polar skate co jeans and trousers. They're quite expensive so he gets them via vinted. he also likes Vans chinos and the baggy jeans from Bershka.

ladybirdsanchez · 02/09/2025 14:09

17 year old wears baggy jeans when he wants to look a bit smarter.

Funsummerfun · 02/09/2025 14:11

Hugely baggy ones!! Mainly denim, some joggers - although only for the gym and lounging at home. Over the summer they've been wearing baggy jorts that come below the knee. Older one has some baggy linen trousers too.

4FoxxSake · 02/09/2025 16:08

Why?

Let him wear what he wants. There are many battles ahead of you, ride it out they grow out of it and find their own style.

RebeccaRedhat · 02/09/2025 16:09

Why? Surely as long as he's comfy, all is good?

My son has 1 pair of jeans for if we are going to afford party/meal or something but lives in shorts most of the year.

Comeonbabyblue · 02/09/2025 16:11

All the cargos. But the thin material type,.i dont even know but they usually have technical or just tech written on the description / label Wide ones and ones with pull elastic at the bottom black, grey, khaki. Baggy jeans & cargos again but like sweatpants wide leg with cargo pockets only in black and a really dark grey though

Fizbosshoes · 02/09/2025 16:14

Trousers???

DS (nearly16) lives in joggers when he's not in shorts, but (assisted/advised by older DD) has recently bought some baggy denim trousers but the waist band isn't like a pair of jeans. But he would rather wear shorts. 99% of the time its fine but something other than joggers is a bit more suitable for going for a meal

Iloveeverycat · 02/09/2025 16:25

Pull and bear cargo trousers.

Phoenixfire1988 · 02/09/2025 17:46

Why ? Let him wear what he wants and is comfortable in my 15yo doesnt own a single pair of jeans etc its all trackies and shorts

ManteesRock · 02/09/2025 19:51

Why?
Let him be comfy!

YesTHATMum · 02/09/2025 19:55

Relaxed fit jeans (when I can get him out of shorts/joggers)

angielizzy1 · 02/09/2025 20:08

My 15 year old just wears joggers, if he needs something smart he wears his school trousers.

DongDingBell · 02/09/2025 20:09

The 14 year old?? Shorts (one style) or one very specific style of joggers without the fleecy lining.

The 16 year old has been guided by his very fashionable girlfriend into baggy, faded, jeans.

gokusgirl · 02/09/2025 21:29

Jack jones cargo pants.

OneFootAfterTheOther · 02/09/2025 21:42

Cargos - not heavy fabric

Fuckitydoodah · 02/09/2025 21:43

I wasn't expecting all the why's.

He's worn only trackies for the last few winters. He doesn't really know what else is out there. I thought it would be nice to help him find some other potential options. If he decides he's happiest in his trackie bottoms, then so be it.

He wears a variety of knock off pricey joggers. Say things like "essentials" and "stussy". Pretty much all black and grey. With white or black t shirts.

MumAgainAt41 · 03/09/2025 09:24

Cargo pants. Too me a while to convince my lad but now it’s his go to

WhisperingAngelisnotbad · 03/09/2025 09:32

My 17 year old likes wearing enormously baggy jeans paired with very baggy sweatshirts.

Sources are usually Hollister outlet or TK Maxx.

my 16 year old has the baggy Berksha jeans in various colours highly recommend those. Otherwise the Nike tech fabric trackies look slightly better than your traditional ones.

Meadowfinch · 03/09/2025 13:04

Cargo pants from Next or Arne.

Next are less expensive, but not great sizing for DS. Arne cost more but do a 28/32 that are actually longer enough and are well cut.

My DS 17 live in Tom's Trunks- sleep in the shorts and wear the long baggies all year round.
