what do you wear in your feet with loafers? Socks? Fancy some as a change from trainers and boots but have no sartorial gifts at all.

also any hints as to what makes a loafer look stylish rather than something my granny might wear? (I’m mid 50s so the line between cool and naff is vv narrow)

Im having the same problem. Im wearing knee high skin coloured tights bur I don't know what kind of trousers to wear, I think its going to have to be boot cut, wide leg or flares as straight leg make them look like Herman Munster.p

It depends what I'm wearing them with & the weather. Either thin black socks, opaque tights or barefoot but with insoles in for wearing sockless.

Popsocks. But I wear popsocks with trainers so I'm perhaps not the best lesson to advise you.

Those pop sock thing. Primark do some good ones, they aren’t thin.

Apparently the way to wear them now is with visible ankle socks, either with a short skirt, or ankle grazer/cuffed tailored or slim trousers/jeans

I feel the same as similar age! Saw someone in fairly chunky but not clompy tassel loafers the other day and I want to get some. I’d wear oxblood with ankle sport socks but in beige, I wear long skirts anyway.

The cool way to wear them is with ankle socks, either coordinating or contrasting.

No-show socks or sock stockings. Something like this - I think they need to be invisible to avoid looking funny.

Bought 3 pairs of chunky glossy loafers with bows across the top from Temu (black, pink and sage green) Wore black ones with nude tights and flowy dress to a funeral recently. Were super comfy all day and think looked fine. Tend to wear usually with wide jeans or wide bottomed cargos and ankle/sports socks in similar colours.

Forgot to say, they look weird with slim legged jeans, I found. Just not right.

I baulk at wearing any shoes with visible socks ! Heavens, young people today …

Absolutely ankle socks or bare feet. Pop socks are incredibly naff.
