Nice jumpers

Please could you recommend somewhere for nice jumpers - cashmere or merino ideally - but something that is easy to wash.

I’d say it really depends on the budget, I usually just go for Uniqlo. They do simple cashmere and merino jumpers, and they often have those “premium” ranges that are surprisingly good quality for the price. Loads of colour options too, and they wash pretty well- https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/women/jumpers

Yep, uniqlo. Mine are onto year 3 - with half a dozen in rotation getting worn every day for work as soon as the temperature drops.

CosmopolitanCocktail · 01/09/2025 10:29

Uniqlo or Woolovers

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/09/2025 10:45

Cashmere will need handwashing or dry cleaning. Uniqlo say you can machine wash their merino, but Celtic say hand wash only.

Woolovers do a range in cashmere/merino blend.

La Redoute are great for cashmere and always have discount codes.

Thanks

Agree with Uniqlo for convenience.

I have had cashmere from Mint Velvet that I was very happy with. A white cashmere jumper looked good for almost three winters, and I washed it on a delicates cycle in my machine. Considering my famous ability to destroy anything pale coloured, I was very pleased by. I still wear it around the house as it's still in good shape, just a bit more grey.

I also had a good one from John Lewis which I had for years until DH shrunk it not that I am bitter at all

Both were not crazily priced which was nice.

I’ve got two Uniqlo merino jumpers that I have had for over 20yrs and they still look great. For the first 10yrs I just washed them in the machine with everything else (then I met my husband and he introduced me to the delicate cycle and drying flat!).

Has anyone got any recommendations for a chunky knit cosy jumper, wool or wool cotton blend. Not alpaca or mohair as I hate the smell and they make me itch!

Indiebee · 02/09/2025 17:55

Celtic fan here (not the footie!).

SorciereDesMemises · 02/09/2025 17:56

I love Poetry for cashmere. It’s a bit pricey but the cuts and colours are lovely

ZoeyBartlett · 02/09/2025 17:58

Gussy and Lou or Jumpers 1234

Thingamebobwotsit · 02/09/2025 19:40

Uniqlo or M&S. Just bought two lovely cashmere crew necks from M&S.

Jigsaw can have some nice merino or cashmere in, but it is dependent on style as to whether you like them. I tried the White Company last year and wasn't impressed with how their cashmere washed.

AnotherVice · 02/09/2025 19:41

Also Arket.

AlexandraJJ · 02/09/2025 19:57

I’m looking for cashmere too. Do you wash yours inside a white pillowcase?

I bought a lovely navy lambs wool one from Community clothing last year.
They don’t have much in yet but worth a look in a few weeks.

cupfinalchaos · 02/09/2025 20:19

Love Zadig cashmere but bloody expensive only buy in sale.

Hdpr · 03/09/2025 16:07

M&S cashmere washed on. Wool machine wash. I always size up to allow for any shrinkage. It’s great

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 03/09/2025 16:51

Palome good for cashmere by all accounts, and all other stuff I’ve had from them has been good. (I sound like the Palome marketing board these days, promise I don’t work for them.)

Also wash all my cashmere jumpers in the machine - wool wash and detergent - to no ill effect.

Doggymummar · 03/09/2025 17:39

I got a house of bruar and an eribe thus week, both beautiful

unsync · 07/09/2025 20:29

Have you looked at https://www.nearlynewcashmere.co.uk/ ? They have a mix of pre-owned reconditioned cashmere, end of lines and pieces they commission using over run yarn and mill down time.

You need to be signed into their newsletter and stalk their SM to not miss the best bits, but it's well worth it. They have some cracking stuff.

I'm gradually swapping out all my fleeces and other less than satisfactory jumpers for a mix of styles, weights and colour from them. And their backstory is interesting too.

Tk Maxx.
I love Crush Cashmere & other expensive brands often pop up. You do have to buy it straight away when you see it though, as it doesn't hang around.
I wash all my cashmere on a 30° delicates wash with wool detergent & have never had an issue. Even super expensive brands.

MakemineaGandT · 08/09/2025 08:42

Most of my knitwear comes from TKMaxx. Always check the label and avoid the acrylic…..! I have lots of very lovely merino, cotton and cashmere jumpers I’ve collected from TKMaxx over the last few years from brands including Rails, Massimo Dutti, Paul Costelloe etc. And some TKMaxx own brand stuff can be very good too (Max Studio etc).
Knitwear prices are eye-watering in many shops, and no matter how carefully I wash things they simply don’t look ‘new’ for all that long. So it’s less painful if you start off with a bargain!

LaurieFairyCake · 08/09/2025 10:44

I’m wearing a beautiful bright orange Arket jumper today. It’s 31% alpaca 33% wool, the rest elastane and poly. New season.
