Cool trainers for 5 year old boy

Having stuck to Clark’s for all my son’s shoes so far - due to a lack of time and any creativity - I’d like to get him something a bit cooler! I see all the kids in his class in much trendier trainers but I have no idea what they are.

Cool mums, help please! Any tips on what to get?

We just get them from Clark’s or decathlon. They grow so fast!

Deichmann sells some cool trainers for fairly reasonable prices. DS currently has flashing ones. They are possibly Sketchers, although not certain.

DS5 wears New Balance. Not sure if they’re considered ‘cool’, but I think they look cool!

Geox are good, they do very cool light up character trainers

I hadn’t heard of deichmann so will have a browse on there.

I fully accept I may be overthinking this! I know he’ll only go and destroy them in a sandpit but thought it could be fun to break out into something a bit trendier this time.

We like Nike borough court (mid or low), Nike blazers, vans old skool, new balance 530, adidas gazelles

@user653 I was going to go for new balance but wasn’t sure if they were still the one to go for. I know nothing about boy trends!

Schuh have sales on at the moment. They measure feet in store too. Anything there is latest ‘trend’

I’d just take him shopping and get him what he likes. ‘Cool’ is very subjective. My daughter had flashing sketchers at that age and my son had Adidas trainers with Captain America on them.

I can’t edit this, but for cost per wear I would go for the Nike boroughs. They go through the wash really well but are pretty sturdy & hardy anyway. The new balance don’t wear as well in my opinion, vans get trashed but are a lower price point anyway!

Thanks, some excellent suggestions here. And I know I should ask him what he likes too, but I do want to get down to a shortlist first.
