Bought a pair of boots from a second hand vintage shop in Brighton today they said they were Frye

I paid £230 for them - both DD and I will wear them.
I asked them to check but the boots - when I shone my iPhone torch in - have a BB label in them.
I need to take them back don't I?

Why?

coravantexel · 28/08/2025 20:07

I’ve never heard of Frye or BB but I would never pay £230 for a second hand pair of boots!

GleisZwei · 28/08/2025 20:08

Particularly when new ones are in the £400s .

Oh dear oh dear. I don’t understand why anyone would pay £230 for some secondhand Frye boots even if they’re genuine. But without evidence that they ARE genuine, just why?!!!

Frye boots were dirt cheap a few years ago (certainly cheaper new than what the OP has paid secondhand) which is why they went bankrupt and were bought by a hedge fund group who are (obviously) just all about the money.

TheMAFSfan · 28/08/2025 20:52

What is BB?

shellyleppard · 28/08/2025 20:54

Weren't they popular in the 80's ? I remember them being mentioned in a couple of Stephen king books

gummywitch · 28/08/2025 20:57

Sorry OP but the pic of your boots from that angle makes me think of some kind of mummified Victorian childbirth relic with leather forceps. Apologies, I'm sure they're lovely boots

Yeah they were “in” for a while in the late 80s-mid 90s when the cowboy boot trend was popular. Makes me feel ancient seeing it come round again.

PamIsAVolleyballChamp · 28/08/2025 20:59

Even new ones aren't much more, vinted has similar for £20!

Soontobe60 · 28/08/2025 21:01

Can we have a picture of the boots in full please?

Charabanc · 28/08/2025 21:09

You paid £230? For some second hand Fryes? They saw you coming.

CharlotteCChapel · 28/08/2025 22:00

It looks like they're from a company called double b. They're round about the same price as Frye.

gotbillstopay · 29/08/2025 11:11

Frye boots on Vinted are around £200 - the dupes are cheaper. Yeah I do feel a fool now - I've contacted the shop and I'm going to try and see if I can either send them back and get a refund or get a reduction?
