Returns scam / Evri issue

Reposting from chat where I think it's got lost.

I've just had an email from an online shop (pretty dress company) where I'd returned 3 dresses via Evri. They said the contents were not their items, and when they sent pics I could see that the (carefully packaged) contents were not the same.

I had put the clothes in the box they had been packaged in, with tissue paper, then covered it with a waterproof post bag with the label attached. Postage needed paid for so I sent it via evri.
The pics sent by PDC showed no box, but the bag (which had been taped up) with the label. Some random clothes in a colour I'd never wear. The items I was returning weren't cheap either.
I'm feeling a bit sick. I think I only have cover up to £20 via Evri (kicking myself about that now too) but have contacted them.

Any advice? Happened to anyone else? I've just lost £300, haven't I? Less the £20 covered by evri

Oh dear OP
Hopefully someone will come along with some advice shortly but there must be a way you are covered by this surely?! Did you pay with a credit card? If so could they help?
Scams are becoming so commonplace these days, I have had 3 scam calls in the past 24 hours.
Good Luck.

Not a scam but I’m convinced there’s something weird going on with Evri at the moment. I received the wrong Vinted item, seller proved the parcel I received wasn’t the one she sent so the label has been put on the wrong parcel somewhere along the line

Thanks @mechanicalpencil - good thought re credit card. I'll look into that.
I work with older people so I see it first hand. So many scavengers about :(

It surely takes a bit of brass neck to alter the contents of a parcel - maybe it's seen as less suspicious than a parcel going missing.

That's what I assumed had happened to mine initially @jackiesgirl - a mix up over tracking codes or something. Did you get reimbursed ok when you contacted them?
My parcel definitely had my tracking label on it.

No I didn’t get reimbursed, Evri said it was a Vinted issue which it clearly wasn’t
