Casual but smart

What can I wear to a social ( but work) event in a very fancy 5 star hotel? Dress code is casual, jeans can be worn. It's a social event for a law firm on a Saturday night. I am probably more comfortable in dresses but don't want to look overdressed. I am size 12, pear shaped with a tummy! I really have no clue, I'm mid 40s and not very stylish normally and just want to blend in. Nothing that stands out.

Wear a dress if that's what makes you comfortable! You can make it a more casual look with your choice of shoes and accessories? Avoid high heels, go for an ethnic necklace perhaps.

I'm not sure I have a dress that would be suitable
