Mine are at best 1.5 weeks...2 weeks and some are lifting

That’s not long at all. Are they standard gels? Or Biab? It’s not long enough for either but my biab nails last for ages - like 5/6 weeks if I don’t mind the regrowth.

Chickoletta · 24/08/2025 23:34

Had them done in July and they lasted 3 weeks. Went back and had this removed and a reapplication but they stares breaking and looked awful by 2 weeks. Had those taken off and my nail now look terrible.

KitsyWitsy · 24/08/2025 23:47

did you go to a nail bar or a proper salon?

Drippybeef · 25/08/2025 13:49

I went to a salon.

Biab is a builder gel that goes underneath.

With standard gels, if you’re taking reasonable care of them - by which I mean wearing rubber gloves if you’re washing up etc - then I would say you’re not getting good value. I used to get 2/3 weeks from mine.

purplecorkheart · 25/08/2025 14:41

I have stopped wearing gels but used to get two and a half to three weeks. They did not chip or lift but the regrowth used to annoy me.

Ineedanewsofa · 25/08/2025 14:44

I can ruin a gel nail in under a week, I’m too hard on my hands and nails in general. I now have builder gel done every 3 weeks and have only had 1 break/chip in the 3 years I’ve been getting it done. I only go so frequently as my nails grow incredibly quickly and I don’t like how they look grown out

Mikart · 25/08/2025 15:07

3 weeks

TokyoSushi · 25/08/2025 15:12

I have standard gel every 3 weeks, they usually look absolutely fine except for the regrowth.

HeWhoWouldAValiantBe · 25/08/2025 16:37

I stopped getting mine done as I’d only get 24 - 48 hours and that was with taking care of them. I didn’t even go near the washing up the last time I had them done! Even with them only lasting that amount of time, it destroyed my nails each time and it would take them about 6 months to recover. Gel just isn’t for me!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 25/08/2025 17:39

Normal gel. Usually three to four weeks.

FreddysFingers · 25/08/2025 17:42

Are you wearing gloves for household jobs? I always wear washing up gloves and vinyl gloves for household tasks to minimise the chances of lifting. I LIKE to get mine done every 2 weeks as hate the grow out, but they would last longer if I needed them to (if I couldn't get an appointment).

SummerDayys · 25/08/2025 17:44

I can only wear them for 2 because I can't stand it when the regrowth gap starts to show, it looks so cheap and nasty. But I'm pretty careful and have never had any issues with damage and/or lifting.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 25/08/2025 17:47

Gel/biab nails only ever lasted a week on me until I changed nail tech. Now they last 4-5 weeks.

I get a neutral ombré french so any re growth is not very noticeable.

Leoari · 25/08/2025 17:48

Feet 6-7 weeks. Hands 3 weeks. They never chip but the re- growth is bad on hands after 3 weeks. My toes grow more slowly!

DoggyDisaster · 25/08/2025 17:49

2 weeks maximum with regular gels. Usually a little bit of lifting or a chip by 1.5 weeks. BioSculpture has been brilliant though and I now get 3 weeks!
