Supposed to read Outfit needed but won’t let me edit the Subject!
So my daughter has asked me to look for ideas for her as she’s going to an 80s themed wedding . I was in my 20s then so remember it well ! She’s a size 10, lovely figure but hates showing her shoulders so would have to have short or long sleeves . She has long auburn hair and pale skin . Yellows or creams don’t suit her, she’s better in strong colours . I think she would prefer a new dress rather than vintage . I have trawled the internet and found a few metallic dresses that are ok but still not found the one . She doesn’t want to spend too much, maybe a max of about £60 . She’s in her 20s. TIA

Sorry no help with the outfit but…. An 80s themed wedding??? Are fancy dress weddings a thing? I can’t think of anything worse as a guest tbh .

I lived in Laura Ashley (think floral and frills) back then so not sure that helps. It might be worth looking in Vinted for some ideas

Fancy dress wedding? And the suggestion of Laura Ashley?!

No

I got married in the 80's and went to lots of weddings then. What I wore to wedding was not what I wore to go out so it depends if the wedding is come dressed in 80's club clothes or 80's formal clothes? I had several lovely dropped waist dresses I wore to formal occasions. Always stiletto shoes.

Google puff ball rara dresses. That's the sort of thing I'd have worn with flat ballet pumps. New Look have a pink one but unfortunately sleeveless.

Sorry for delay in getting back but yes something like the Debenhams dress is perfect.ive sent her the link , thanks for the tip . I think the bride is very quirky , I haven’t a clue what they will be wearing , and I’m not going , my daughter has some weird and wonderful friends !

I agree with this - regardless of what we wore going out / hanging out, weddings were much more formal.
The outfits I can remember wearing include a silk knee length shift dress and a linen suit with a straight midi length skirt, both very naice but nothing like what I wore normally,
I’d check whether they mean ‘fancy dress’ with an 80s theme or whether they want to recreate a typical 80s wedding,

Love the metallic dress posted above. I’m trying to remember the kinds of dresses that were fashionable back then. I’ve gone down a rabbit hole and found this thing of beauty…I remember the puff balls and big pouffy sleeves!
