Very spotty chest

Workisntworking · 21/08/2025 12:08

18 year old DD has an extremely spotty chest.
She always had a few spots but now really very bad.
Is there something she can use to reduce the spots - nothing to harsh as I think she has quite sensitive skin.

Many thanks for any suggestions.

Sorry about typo in title. Have asked MN to amend.

Hey OP, we've made that amend for you now.

Posting again in a minute -- MN won't let me post links any more if it's the first post.

Niacinamide (B3) and lactic acid. Lactic acid with a cotton pad 2x a week. Niacinamide every other day, building up to every day. If she does everything at once she will further compromise the mantle and the spots will get worse, so build up slowly.

Any simple product with these ingredients should work. They are not very expensive. Some options

If she needs moisturiser, make sure it has urea and salycylic acid in it. Something like

I second the ordinary niacinamide. It works well for small spots/blocked pores and oily skin. If the spots are bigger and more like cysts, it's likely to be hormonal

I've had terrible skin on my chest since I was a teenager. Mid 40s now and over the decades the only thing that has worked is oral antibiotics or roaccutane. Any lotions or spot creams on my chest would irritate me hugely and never touched the acne.
If it's really bad and persistent I would go to the GP.

Thank you. Really useful!

I had a spotty chest and back from my teens right up until mid 40s. The best thing I found to help was sunshine.
