Hi, my baby is 6 and a half months old after an emergency c section and I have no clue how to dress my body anymore. I usually wear leggings / baggy tops or joggers or long dresses, jeans are usually out of the question but I do wear them occasionally. Pre baby I was probably a size 12 and I’m now a size 16, I have a c section pouch, my thighs are waaaay bigger than everything else and I can’t usually even get them into jeans but my waist is quite a bit smaller, I feel like a lump of cheese walking around the place. I need a personal stylist or someone here to please help me! What type of clothes would suit me? I’m 29, not sure if that makes a difference. I’ve tried many different diets but can’t seem to stick to anything … I did a calorie deficit a few years ago and lost 3 stone but I’ve gained it all back and more since having my son, it’s been a tough 2 years with having 4 miscarriages and then finally having my son and the weight has just piled on and I would just like to dress my new shape and look flattering… can anyone help? I’ll watch some pics of the things I wear most of the time (the blue jeans I only got 2 days ago not sure if they’re okay?!)

If it helps, I think you look lovely. I esp like the jumpsuit and sporty dress.

Seaside3 · 20/08/2025 22:43

I think the wide leg on the jumpsuit looks good. So maybe try a wider legged jean?

Im not mad keen on the light coloured top, it looks a little old, and like you're trying to hide a belly.

Have you considered a shirt with a v neck?

Maybe a boxy t-shirt? You're only a size 16 and only 29. You don't have to hide away!

I like this lady, Not sure how old she is, but shes a size 16 and looks great, imo

The v necks are so much nicer on you than the crew neck! The white top is lovely and you look great in that dress! I’d find a few more dresses like that as you can add tights and a cardi as it gets colder.

Switching to low rise jeans was a game changer for me- I thought the high rise would hold my tummy in but it actually just gives a bulge which isn’t particularly flattering, or comfortable when you spend half your time on the floor playing with the baby! A lower rise avoids that, and with a top like your white one would still flatter the mum tum! I also agree with the above poster about a wider leg.

bunnyzip · 20/08/2025 22:52

But also you’re only 6m post partum and had a rough time before that🥹 it took 9 months to grow your sweet baby, it’s gonna take a while to feel like you or a new version of you again so make sure you’re kind to yourself- yes your body has changed but for the best reason in the world

Echoing the v necks, these look good. And your hair looks amazing quality too.
Maybe just wear it down a bit more and make the most of how good it is.
none of this is hideous. Other Jean shapes maybe more flattering.

evilharpy · 21/08/2025 09:42

Have to be honest I'm not a big fan of those jeans. Have you tucked the hems underneath to shorten them? The length looks awkward, they would be better cuffed/rolled to just above your ankle bone I think, and they might also work better with a lower profile trainer. The jumpsuit is lovely on you and I think you would suit a pair of cropped wide leg jeans. H&M would be worth a look for jeans.

I agree that the v necks are great on you. Primark has plain V neck t shirts that you could try to see if you like them without having to spend too much.

The dress is lovely and I really like the peplum top in the last photo.

poetryandwine · 21/08/2025 10:41

The jumpsuit and dress are really flattering and stylish, OP. I also think the third outfit on the second line is fine, but not as good.

The jeans are not the best line for you at the moment. So what? You are 6 months PP having grown a human.

I think you can afford to focus on your smaller waist. That’s part of why the jumpsuit works so well. I agree with PP that you have great hair.

Maybe think about colours that work particularly well with your hair and skin? We can’t really judge that from what you’ve posted

heavenstruck · 21/08/2025 11:57

@HopingForTheBest25 aww thank you, the jumpsuit I have in 3 colours because I find it quite flattering!!

@Seaside3i can’t find any wide leg jeans that fit properly but ill keep looking. The light coloured top is like peplum and I am trying to hide my belly 🤣😭 it’s my biggest insecurity! What is a boxy tshirt?

@bunnyzipi saw your comment and I actually had low rise jeans in my wardrobe and never wore them but put them on today and you’re right they’re so much better as it doesn’t show the big bulge of my belly ?! I always thought I had to have high waisted! awww thank you lovely that’s made me tear up

@bloodymary2025thank you, I do like my hair but I have had quite a bit cut off since that picture but it’s got caramel highlights in now, I put my hair down and end up with it in a bun because my son grabs it 🤣

@evilharpythank you, I was unsure on the jeans myself , I can never find any that suit me just right! The dress is a staple and I wear it to death!

@poetryandwineI’ll post a picture of myself so you can see my hair and skin! Im Very pale, and have darker hair with caramel highlights! This was about 2 months ago now but I look the same maybe with an extra pound or 2 added 🤣

thank you everyone for your advice and kindness ! ❤️

You are lovely, OP, and your baby is beautiful!

I think your colouring is somewhat bold, lucky you. It means you can take black, white or off white and, to the extent you like, some bright colours. What you’re wearing in the photo suits you but I think a pop of colour around your neck would do a lot for your face.

What that colour should be, I am not prepared to say. I can’t tell whether your skin tone is warm, cool or neutral.

Does gold or silver tone jewellery suit your skin better? Matte, textured or shiny? Which stones? My vague understanding is that most of us lean towards either clear or sludgy colours, and mostly we favour either blue tones or yellow tones and either orange tones or pink tones. Of course that’s quite simplified: eg my colouring likes dusty blue, forest green, deep rose, soft red, navy and rust, also black. All of these are somewhat sludgy and even my ‘good’ rust has a bit of blue in it.

I really like your lip colour in the photo. But possibly because it would work for me! (I do think you look good but could be biased.)Perhaps you could look for colours that work with it. If they don’t suit you, maybe this isn’t your best lip.

If any of this rings false , that’s very useful in itself. Your intuition is a great guide. You just need a starting point.

I hope you can have fun with this

bloodymary2025 · 22/08/2025 02:44

Aw both you and your baby look lovely 💚
The highlights look really good and agree with others so dose your make up/ lipstick.

Would you consider getting some other bottoms instead of jeans? wide leg crop culottes with elasticated waist? Basically very similar to the leg bit of your jumpsuit but in trouser form, good on the waist, light weight and shape already suits you.

What about some small beauty things like gel nails / lash lift that like highlights
means you wake up feeling more styled but it lasts a few weeks and not everyday upkeep?

heavenstruck · 25/08/2025 16:49

@poetryandwine @bloodymary2025 I bought a few of these long skirts, what do you think? Also I’ve always worn silver jewellery but I’ve recently started to like gold. So not sure what suits me in that case 🤣 I’d love to get something like lashes / nails but it’s not something I can afford sadly

Op, you're absolutely GORGEOUS! Not saying that just to flatter, but because I really mean it. Beautiful face and glowing skin, and a lovely curvy postpartum figure. I would wear clothes that show off arms (fab shape and tattoos!), bust and waist.

It's funny that you posted your last photo in a skirt, because I came on to say exactly that... Midi/maxi skirt with a top tucked in. You'd look lovely in either fitted or loose tops, but either way show off that waist line. I think a vest top would look amazing too. Your last photo is by far my favourite outfit. I also agree with pp, that wide leg trousers would also look great, sometimes with a more fitted top too.

You look amazing!

poetryandwine · 25/08/2025 19:18

Yes, OP! Full midi skirts are a big thing for autumn and you look good in that! If anything you could take it a bit longer.

Maxis are having a fashion moment, also. And I agree with @Somethingsnapped that you might look good in a vest top. Defo show off that waistline. Do you like a belt?

Your makeup does suit your colouring. You might be one of the lucky people who look good in both silver and gold. I would still like to see you experimenting with a bit of colour however.

Betsylee · 25/08/2025 19:34

I think you look lovely in everything apart from the jeans. Sometimes we want to wear our old style clothes and I definitely think a looser leg jean would give you more confidence.
You should give yourself time to recover from a very hard time and the birth of your beautiful baby. Wearing a different style of jeans that your happy and comfy in will give you confidence too. You look amazing in the photos so don't be too hard on yourself, our bodies change all the time and we have to embrace it!

Gymbunny2025 · 25/08/2025 19:41

Love your outfits. Very stylish. Jeans look a bit ouchie though so I’d return personally

heavenstruck · 25/08/2025 21:01

@Somethingsnapped now stop that, you’re to kind 😭 thank you so much

@poetryandwinei used to wear belts when i was slimmer, especially when I wore a midi skirt or a dress but i feel like it just highlights my pouch now?! I feel so self conscious!!!

@Betsyleethank you, I agree with the jeans, I wasn’t sure on them but think they might be ok with a baggy jumper in the winter 🤣 I really only shop in charity shops so I’m going to keep a look out for wider leg jeans!

@Gymbunny2025thank you ❤️ they was only £2 from a charity shop as a sort of trail so I’ll just re donate them 😆

You still have a good waist OP. Why not experiment?
