Personally, I like Me+Em. Given your size, you’ll get some real bargains in their sales so you’d be able to get a lot of really cool smart casual items, and good quality too. Quite transformative for a wardrobe.

That’s so fun. I would buy a smart casual outfit.

Dress/Boots/Jacket or Trousers/Shirt/Jacket/shoes.

I would buy the full outfit not random pieces because it is amazing what having an awesome outfit for going to dinner or drinks does for self-confidence. And somehow the whole rest of the wardrobe is elevated too.

Are you happy with your current style or are you after something different?
Agree with Diligentstrawberry get a complete outfit. Boots you love, a jacket you love, will elevate just about everything you wear.
A pair of really great jeans that cost more than you'd normally spend. Then hold fire and take your time with any money you still have left.

GhastlyGoodTaste · 20/08/2025 08:55

This sounds fun!

What do you already have that’s fine? If anything?

Going out with friends, would you be more concerned with your coat, (if you spend more time outdoors, socially) and maybe good boots? Otherwise, are you thinking coffee shop or cocktail bar?

(You haven’t mentioned it but do your children’s school lives and routines impact your clothes? What’s the milieu - do you need to spend money on your school mum wardrobe, or not?)

You should check out www.newin.style - they have a really lovely curation of items off the high street. I've found some lovely pieces on there!

If you’re looking to elevate your look, I’d make sure some of that budget is spent on a beautiful piece of jewellery to elevate your existing clothes that could be worn everyday.

I’m increasingly finding it’s helpful to look at celebrities whose style I like, it helps me make better decisions in buying clothes I’ll actually wear.
