Wedding guest shoes that's not heels or open toes?

Would a shoe like this be good for a wedding guest? Will be wearing likely a formal casual dress, likely long.

I don't like heels or open toe shoes or sandals.

I typed my details into AI and this is what it gave me although, I don't think I am this big and wide.

I'm a size 24. Definitely not that big / wide at size 20! Stupid AI!

Maybe it's US size 20?

Have you worn/ do you own any Doc Martens? They are comfortable and can look good with the types of dresses you are drawn to, plus they come in loads of different colours.

Pinklittlebaby · 17/08/2025 18:09

One of my favourite dresses that I provided was the pale pink dress with the purple flowers and the green leaves. I gave the details to AI and this is what it made for me. Although if I was to get the dress I provided a page or two back, I would likely wear it with a green bolero.

Dr martens - as in something like these?

I don't own any but these look comfortable.

Out of all of your options, I think the Dr Martens look best, but they are known for being uncomfortable until broken in, so you would need to do that before wearing them to the wedding. The other options are all too casual or office like.

poetryandwine · 17/08/2025 19:14

I prefer the maroon ballets amongst your options. They would go well with many autumn colours. I will gently repeat that the brown brogues are for business or casual dress only.

The Doc M’s could possibly work. I don’t think the colour you posted is very autumnal

Pinklittlebaby · 17/08/2025 19:43

This is what AI gave me. I love it.
This is a green dress that I gave it and the gold sandals.

Now I love this green dress but I am deciding against it due to the neckline. It won't suit me.

I don't know if I will stay purple or change to blonde for the wedding and winter

Gorgeous colour, OP. Perhaps you can find something similar. Also have you thought about a bolder green? Eg forest green?

Pinklittlebaby · 17/08/2025 21:44

I like this dress but I don't know if it will be suitable for a wedding.

This is a picture AI generated for me. I like this. This with some pink or gold shoes. What do you think of this. Maybe a green bolero instead of an rusting pink.

I saw a picture of a couple I knew who went to wedding this summer. It is as gay couple but they looked stunning. One guy wore a salmon suit with a navy shirt. The other guy wore nave suit with a salmon shirt. They bit had ties too. They were just so good.

It's going to be impossible to get my partner to go anything like that.

My partner will like wear navy. I think.

They look very office-like (or even school) and not very wedding-y to me. Mainly because they're black. What colour is your dress?

There are lots of 'pointed flats' around this season which look wedding appropriate, like these.

The gold t-bar ones here are lovely and would be perfect with the emerald green dress you posted, OP.

Agree.

I would avoid anything with a thick rubbery sole when dressing smartly.

I like this dress but I don't know if it will be suitable for a wedding.

This is really lovely! Definitely suitable for a wedding.

If it's in Autumn, you'll need a cardigan or similar too.

This would look especially nice with blue or pink shoes.

Pinklittlebaby · 18/08/2025 07:40

I will likely be getting a pale blush pink dress.

Would these shoes be suitable?

Probably not

Would these be suitable if I picked a different coloured dress?

These shoes are chunky. Thst’s what you need to get away from, for a wedding vibe

Pinklittlebaby · 18/08/2025 08:23

This is a woman's brogue shoe.

Could this be suitable?

No brogues with a wedding-guest dress, OP. The woman’s brogue is similar to the man’s. Of course the rule is not carved in stone. If you need to wear brogues, so be it. But they will look odd.

It is a handsome shoe. (So is the man’s brogue.) It just doesn’t fit with the dresses. I think the metallic sandals were your best find so far. Some might prefer the other sandals you posted.

Sympathies

poetryandwine · 18/08/2025 08:58

The chunky sole Mary Janes are better than the brogues. On second thought, in a suitable colour, for autumn, they may be among the best of your personal choices.

However ….. can you see the difference between your Mary Janes and some examples others have found for you? Their examples have a less obtrusive sole, a more delicate strap. I think plain leather is nicer than cut outs but that is personal taste.

You’ve picked lovely dresses. You’ve got good taste. Keep looking.

TheBewleySisters · 18/08/2025 09:18

If you like brogues, heavier shoes and so on, would you consider a trouser suit instead of a dress?

mumonthehill · 18/08/2025 09:27

If you love brogues then get silver or gold ones. Your options are not really suitable for a wedding nor do they go with the lovely dresses you have picked. For fun flats that are wide fitting try ASOS. A pair of satin flats or gold ballet pumps that are less chunky would work.
