Outfit for a ceilidh?

I'm going to a ceilidh next month. What kind of outfit would be good for dancing in? I've been to a couple before years ago and think I wore trousers and top. Not sure how hot and sweaty it will get. My friend said avoid short skirts! Would a jumpsuit be ok or restrictive for dancing? Midi dress? Assuming flat shoes are best. Thanks.

You’ll be flung around so definitely flat shoes! Probably a loose skirt or wide trousers and a short sleeved top. One can get rather hot 🔥 🤣

Yes, something that isn’t going to fly up and be too revealing. But definitely something easy to move in, a loose skirt, dress or light trousers. In a cool fabric, too. A ceilidh can get quite energetic! Have a great time.

Oh, I’m very envious.

Absolutely need everyone to be wearing flat shoes, for your own comfort but mostly to minimise any damage if anyone even accidentally steps on your feet. Flat shoes mean the weight is distributed as evenly as possible and do cause the least damage

As for the rest, staying cool is another big consideration.

The combination of flat shoes and keeping cool usually means women lean towards longer skirts and loose or layered tops. I have seen all sorts of outfits, some people can indeed look great wearing a short skirt with flats shoes.

enjoy, it’s brilliant fun.
