Please do not put this on any newspaper outlets
shame on you if you do as this is very personal
to me

So I’m in my early 40 and since I got into my teen years I suffered from pcos
I have tried everything, laser at least 14 rounds and will not try anymore or buy a ipl
taken spearmint oil / tea
apparently my hormones are normal
I have lost a few stone and been prescribed the microlitre pill
this is me nearly a week of not shaved
I usually do the jawline every 24 hours/ 48
neck hair are long
how bad am I really
luckly it just there I do a few sparse hairs on my cheek and parts of my lip
how bad am I?

It’s bad, but if I left mine for a week I’d be the same, so I hope you don’t mind me saying that. It’s horrific, doesn’t make you feel feminine, constantly on edge worrying about how your face looks (more so in the sun). Twice daily plucking. Had some previous success with threading. My biggest worry is ending up in hospital & people seeing the real me. Feel for you & understand x

I really feel for you. Has it improved since you've lost weight? What does the doctor say? Would they refer you to specialist? I'm sorry I can't help but just wanted to bump this for you. And yes shame on anyone who takes this off site.

riverforest11112 · 12/08/2025 22:54

Thanks all the neck is longer tough
they are not concerned about it only if you were trying for a child that is the only help that you really receive

Well I was 17 st it was really bad and then when I was in my mid twenties I did lose a good few stone and it wasn’t really a problem but I’m about 12.13 stone and this is what like so I’m not sure really what or any weight loss would help
its been nearly a week now since I did it I do have fair ish hair and some people say you get away with that a bit better but I’m like really!

OP, I had typed a lovely long message, and lost the whole thing! I will try a synopsis.
i have two friends who both used the same specialist. (They don’t know each other and obviously I wouldn’t tell them) Friend 1 is about to undergo male to female surgery. It is a condition of the surgery that they have no pubic hair what so ever. They have also had their beard treated at the same time. One session a week for the last year or so. You would hardly know that they had ever had a beard and it was a full on dark, man’s beard. I assume as the op is booked that it has also worked elsewhere!
Friend 2 has PCOS. She has decided to become completely hair free other than head, eyebrows, lashes (extreme reaction to what she has gone though). Chin and upper lip hair, sideburns, and all her body hair has been treated.

as I understand it, hair removal experts who treat the trans community are considered to be the experts in the field.

Do you have any thoughts as to why your treatment has not been successful? I honestly think that you may have to keep having treatment on your face and neck if it upsets you as much as it seems to. You say your hormones are within normal range, again, would it be worth seeing a specialist?

healthybychristmas · 12/08/2025 23:33

Have you looked at us the weight loss injection, Mounjaro? I'm on this and I've heard a lot about it being really good for people with PCOS. It might be worth doing some research into it.

Helpmechooseausername · 12/08/2025 23:42

Can you get your doctor to give you Metformin? I've been taking it for something else and noticed quite quickly that my hairyness had got a lot better. Worth a try!

Thanks all the reply’s and I’m super grateful for the support
last time I had laser it was a traumatic experience under and I don’t think I could face it again .
as for weight loss job I don’t think I can qualify or take them
as I have a few health issues and rather not . I have some stomach problems.
yeah I’m envious of the trans people that are buzz free.
im not sure a specialist would be an option unless I go private .
many years ago I did attend a couple but wasn’t interested unless I wanted a baby so I said yes I was. They knew I had pcos but didn’t offer any advice to help with that and could not take ( the pill) as i was trying for a baby
i took the pill in hope to get it the hair sorted but I had to come off I was about 18 st then and it did not agree with me.
I don’t actual
want to lost much weight perhaps a stone but enjoy walking . I’m now 12.13 st I was previously 17/18 st
i enquired about a electoysis today the reason why I did not shave in nearly a week
as I wanted to be waxed and my experience beautician mentioned that electrolysis would be ages on me and she doesn’t recommend that really on me as it’s far to gone unfortunately.
i use nair occasionally but I leave it on for more than the recommended amount but it still barely works.
well I’m pale and have fair hair ish and of course these places will blah blah but when you have hormones it rarely works and unless you keep going
your hair will keep growing

It the last few year I have experienced regular periods and a few years ago I had cysts on my ovaries but not sure now x if I could take a magic pill to get rid I would be so happy.

apart from laser I’m not sure it’s be a option as someone said if you had over 14 rounds and it didn’t work then I doubt it would work now.
I actually agree with that .

It’s so frustrating as every morning I have to make sure it gone or if it’s not visible I can still feel it and thinks partially why I’m still single I don’t want a man to know my secret and unfortunately I shave it
I did this chocolate wax thing my friend had the kit once and it was great but I tweezed it for a while afterwards
until I noticed that I got a few spots.

So I just went back to shave it and honestly after today I don’t think I want to leave it that long unless the neck and lip area again as I was frightened to bump into anyone going to the place and 2 days before I had to wear a scarf during this warm weather. In order to hid
i don’t think I wait as long again .
for years I thought that if I lost a few stone it might go away but in hasn’t
and some people think I’m not that bad or it’s just hair but it so embarrassing and I don’t want anyone to know (my problem).
unless the understand or have experienced it.
she mentioned the lady that did said my hairs are too stubborn and stuff in which I get

Try an epilator like the silk epil. It removes it a the root like waxing. I no longer use the facial attachment just the standard leg one. Can be very uncomfortable to start with but build up with legs firsts. I do it every day then reduce when under control and you have hit the points in the hair growth cycle.

also used IPL, laser, shaving. Keep the skin well moisturise as waxing and epilating can affect elasticity and make skin crepey as you age. I have a turkey neck ans think repeated hair removal makes it more crepey over time (eg 20 years)

Magpie50 · 13/08/2025 05:50

TbH my goatee is probably worse then that!
I dont have any hormone problems (except perimeno), normal weight, just a hairy little troll!😁
I just shave my face every day. Blokes seem to cope with shaving everyday so I figure I can too.

Zooeyzebra · 13/08/2025 06:05

Have you tried a home ipl or laser? I use the Braun one on my face and I have a lot less hair now. I do need to do it frequently, but it’s in my own time and space and I dont need to make an appointment or see someone. If I’m shaving anyway I feel like why not go over it with the machine after
