80s outfit for work night out

Please help 🙏

I'm 5'4, size 14 on top and 12 on the bottom and need an 80s outfit for a work night out.

If like something classy rather than brash, but my feet are terrible so definitely no heels, trainers preferred.

I have a large chest, happy with v-neck, boat neck and like my upper arms covered.

Thank you

Well it depends which stage of the eighties you are talking about as there were many different styles. . Early eighties was New Romantic, and there was also a bit of a fifties revival going on. then it was power suits, with padded shoulders, also legwarmers and rara skirts. It was very much based on the sort of music You liked. You could look at female pop stars of the time and decide who appeals to you? Bananarama, Madonna ( she looked fab in Desperately Seeking Susan ), Toyah, Kate Bush, Siouxsie Soux, Annie Lennox etc. Big hair was in at the time, backcombed or crimped. Sade was v classy, you could look at what she was wearing? Sorry I can't point you to actual outfits, but hope I've given you some pointers. Have fun with it!

Go late 80s!! Check out Curiosity Killed the Cat ‘Ordinary Day’ video and The Communards ‘Never Can Say Goodbye’ … stripey tights/over the knee socks, chunky shoes, blazer or cropped jacket, chunky gold earrings, just above theknee length skirt - or puffball for the adventurous- or cycling shorts … my favourite time 😊

We lived in doc martins, oversized men’s suit jackets from charity shops with pale blue baggy jeans and a band T-shirt, huge silver earrings and blue mascara lol not classy but how I miss those days

Amazing, thank you all. I’m not sure I have time to do much, might hit the shops during lunch tomorrow and see if anything inspires me.
