Wedding make up

For my wedding I'm thinking of just having a professional make up artist for me and asking my maid of honour and bridesmaids to do their own make up. I'm wondering if this is generally a common thing to do or is it a bit mean to not get professional make up for everyone?

I think it’s fairly normal for bridesmaids to do their own makeup.
I did this - got my make up done by a friend who has a side business as a makeup artist, so did it for free as a wedding present. Then my bridesmaids all helped each other do their own makeup. My friend did also give them a bit of advice and let them use some of her products.
I’ve been a bridesmaid a few times as well and only once had an actual make up artist do my makeup, but I didn’t really like it. It’s also more fun to all help each other and you don’t have to wait for one person to be free to do your makeup.
Maybe it depends on the style though - if you want them to look quite glam it might be best to have someone who knows what they’re doing. If it’s a more natural look then it’s easier for the average person to do.

Thank you! I suppose I just have no idea what's 'normal'
3 of my bridesmaids are my daughter in law and my future step daughters all early 20s so I think they'd like to do their own anyway.
It's just me that will need to work to try and look better than them on the day! 😳
