”Sort of beauty related” I hope. Posting here as we know our products. My oral b just broke and years ago I had a Sonicare and toying going back. Reviews and price ranges are confusing - from £26 sale Oral B to £200 sonic ones. Confusing ! Any recent recommendations please ? Thanks !

How about Philips?

Firealarm1414 · 11/08/2025 22:27

My hygienist recommended oral b, saying that the round heads are much better for cleaning all around the teeth. I have an io model and its great, teeth feel super clean and look white.

Hygienist here . Oral B all the way especially the Oral B iO as it feels like a cross between the previous Oral B and a Phillips Soni Care . I see plenty of patients that just do so much better with the rounded headed brushing action of the Oral B . The Soni Care is a bit more “ technique sensitive” and more prone to user error . I use the Oral B iO . Pricing is confusing . Look out for a series 3 or 4 for good value ( Tesco had them recently for 40 pounds ) at around 70 to 100 pounds. Never buy unless it’s on offer . The more you pay the more settings you get and maybe a different charger / digital timer in the handle etc …. But all you need is an audible timer to let you know when 2 mins is up, everything else is personal preference. It’s honestly the best brush I’ve ever used and most dental folk will agree .

Sonicare anytime. My old one from 2011 has only just given up the ghost and I’ve bought the diamond clean 9000 as a replacement (on sale atm) and omg- my brain rattles in my head as it’s cleaning! I highly recommend it. The ‘deep clean’ mode feels like a hygienist clean.

@Souredgrapes interesting. Would you say sonic is too niche to use properly for most folk ? I did used to like it but remember the head shape being a bit…awkward. Thanks !

I think niche is a perfect description of the Soni Care . Its head sizes are not standard like the Oral B either so some of my patients are using a head size that is simply to large . Then you have to get them to change down a size. Until the iO came out I only recommended it to people with implants on the advice of the implant dentist I work with but even he’s happy with the Braun iO . It’s really does feel like the best of both brushes . X

There’s an io on offer on their own website. I think I’ll get that then. I do recall the head being too big on my old Sonicare and must’ve changed to Oral B for that reason now I look back. Wish I had the cash for both. There’s a lot about Suri (?) on social media but focus seems more on non plastic and storage / charging options there.

Definitely oral b.
I found sonic useless but perhaps it was my technique.

Chemenger · 12/08/2025 07:49

I really like my Suri. The charge lasts for ages, weeks rather than days. My hygienist was happy with how clean my teeth were too. It’s quite a gentle action compared to DH’s sonicare (I had to use his with a spare head when I forgot mine on holiday). It felt brutal, he likes it for that very reason. My old oral b was somewhere between the two.

FourBlackCats · 12/08/2025 07:54

I do great with a Sonicare but my hygienist also says that most people find it easier to get good results with the Oral B.

brionie · 12/08/2025 08:38

Hi! which oral b please? I saw the dentist yesterday and I am pressing too hard when brushing.

beachwalkx · 12/08/2025 08:48

Oral b io4 is the best one my hygienist says

sashh · 12/08/2025 11:07

I have both and yes I do use both.

I use the Sonicare as my main toothbrush and then I use an Oral B with an interspace head to go around the gumline.

My arthritis and mental health issues can make oral hygiene be a problem for me so I have tried various options.

Souredgrapes · 14/08/2025 22:19

Hi . Oral B has just launched the iO 2 for 40 pounds . I have no idea why it’s so cheap but I’ve got one and looks pretty good I just haven’t switched it on yet . I think the iO 3 is being discontinued but getting an Oral B rep in my part of the UK is not easy .
