In Need of Outfit Inspiration for a Friend’s Autumn Wedding

Hi everyone,

I’m feeling a bit stuck on what to wear as a guest for a dear friend’s wedding this October. I'm a 44 year old dark blonde woman.

I’ve recently lost some weight and feel a little out of touch with my style. My budget is mid-range, especially as I might not get many chances to wear the outfit again. Any ideas or inspiration would be greatly appreciated! Thank you xxx

Size? Wedding venue? Vibe?

Size 14, perhaps could get in to a 12 now. Wedding venue is country, Essex vibes. Not a Church wedding. Vibe is my friend is ten years younger than me so might be a younger crowd? My hubby was invited but didn't want to go so I'm going solo.

Where do you usually shop? (And maybe give a more specific budget - your ‘mid-range’ may not be the same as someone else’s.)

It would be a bit of a waste to buy something you won’t wear again! (Unless you’d sell it on.) Would you prefer to buy something smart that might be incorporated into your wardrobe (a velvet trouser suit might be wonderful) or to rent an outfit?

Great places for autumn wedding inspiration (though they may not have much A/W stock yet):

If ypu're going to buy a 'wedding guest dress" then you'll probably never wear it again.

But there are gazillions of dresses that are dressed up enough for a wedding but equally can be worn just about everywhere you might want to wear something nice.

On your budget Nobody's Child, Joannie and Sister Jane.

The damask dress hopefully should be available with long sleeves in winter
