Super short hair

A year ago my hair was long with locks. It’s curly and has all types of curls (from waves to coils, apparently this is unusual) as well as a frizzy patch which tbf is behaving better now. Anyway, I cut the locks and had a short bob, and recently got an undercut which I love and which made me want a buzzcut, but I am doubtful! Dd likes my hair long (always has) while I feel I like it long when it behaves, but get bored often. So my options now are to keep the undercut but grow the rest longer, or to get rid of all of it and go super short. Yes I know there are in-between stages but this is where I’m drawn… and I feel like I want the drama of the big change.

Should I go ahead or reconsider?

Well, your hair will begin reconsidering its length from the moment it’s cut - so it’s hardly a once and for all decision.

Super short hair is my absolute favourite look, for myself and on other women - so I would obviously say try it , as long as it’s for positive not negative reasons.

You’ll receive countless posts telling you not to. But we’re all different.

@QuaterMiss absolutely love pixie cut- on everyone, on me when it’s done well. I do get bored and want a change! But hair does grow back, right? Very few hair decisions are permanent.

Super short hair either looks fantastic or terrible - there seems to be no in-between with it. It's hard to say even knowing what someone looks like whether it will suit them or not. I think there are apps where you can try on different hairstyles if that would help you decide.

Like you say, it will grow back!

I haven't had mine short for decades - it's curly - but I remember when it was growing out the curls went a bit mad until there was enough weight to pull them down. You might want to think about how you'd manage the in between stage if you did want to grow it out.

@LastKnownSurvivor i have spent most of the past 40 years at the in-between stage 😂

I love it at both ends (long and short) and then get bored. But have never had it buzzed or nearly buzzed.

I loved my buzz cut, the only reason I grew it out was because I was cold all the time. I now have shoulder length hair and I absolutely hate having to deal with it, if I lived somewhere warmer I’d probably just keep it shaved. I was also surprised at how many people automatically assumed I was a lesbian!
