Do you rate supermarket clothes?

I can’t say I am impressed with Asda’s current offering when I popped into a store with a small clothing session. I have bought stuff from Sainsbury’s, both first hand and second hand, in the past but I can’t say I am overly impressed.

Not a fan of Asda and Tesco but I do like Sainsburys clothes, especially their jeans

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 09/08/2025 13:28

Tu yes, some gems in their offering, including jeans. The others have been poorer quality in the past few years.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 09/08/2025 13:29

I’ve never bought anything that’s lasted from Sainsbury’s. Rarely from Tesco and Asda is ok

SirChenjins · 09/08/2025 13:30

I like Tu - I've got some really nice things from there. Just wish they did a petite range.

FurForksSake · 09/08/2025 13:31

I guess that depends on what you want from them. Most supermarket ranges are better than shein, Primark or matalan but won’t be the quality of hush or Oliver bonas.

I think there are some great pieces you can buy from Tesco or Sainsbury to supplement high quality pieces from else where, particularly in the more transient pieces. I rarely see anything at George in Asda id wear. Morrisons has often had some nice knitwear or accessories.

if you look at materials and country of production, they’d probably all be somewhat similar in the bottle 1/3 of price points.

Sleepthief · 09/08/2025 13:31

I love TU jeans! And I’ve found they last really well!

They do a short length on most of their trousers - I am 5ft 4

xanthomelana · 09/08/2025 13:52

Tu and F&F are my favourites although I did have two lovely bikinis from Asda this year.

lindyloo57 · 09/08/2025 13:53

I used to buy from asda when I did my food shop there, but the things I bought never lasted long, a bit like H& M specially tops tshirts they ether fade after a few washings or lose their shape, I'd rather buy a bit better quality to get more then one year from them,

evilharpy · 09/08/2025 19:21

Sainsburys barrel jeans are the hill I will die on. They are amazing. I generally really like Sainsburys jeans and rate them far higher than the likes of Next or M&S. I also have a white broiderie anglaise blouse from there which I have worn to death and is lasting beautifully, and looks so much more expensive than it was.

The bleach wash jeans I have on today were from Asda years ago and are still in brilliant condition, just maybe a bit faded from their colour when new. But I think Sainsburys are usually much better than Tesco or Asda.

Britpopbaby · 09/08/2025 19:32

I’ve seen a couple of things that have looked nice on the Asda website but when I have popped in store to have a look they have not been in but I think the quality in terms of the fabric and design has been poor (quality) and design ( off).

Yes, Asda stuff often is carefully styled on the website and either missing or totally different looking in store. Not keen on some of their fabrics either.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 09/08/2025 20:04

I quite like supermarket clothes for basics like underwear, plain t-shirts and cheap, but durable, work clothes. I tend to favour such clothes from Morrisons, because they last for a long time and wash well without losing their colour.

TitaniasAss · 09/08/2025 20:41

Tu jeans are great and they do a short length for us short arses. Tesco is a bit hit and miss but I have rarely seen anything anywhere near half decent in Asda.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 09/08/2025 20:57

I bought some 100% linen trousers from Tesco last year but the offerings everywhere have been a bit bland this year.

unsync · 09/08/2025 20:58

Tu are good for the basics (tees and jeans etc), but it's worth having a poke about as there are also gems within the range.

daisychain01 · 09/08/2025 21:12

When Tesco clothes were branded Cherokee, they sold lovely clothes at reasonable prices. I still have a pair of wide legged faded jeans with rhinestones on the side of one leg which are really stylish and still going strong. Long sleeve T Shirts for a fiver - great for layering for outdoor sports and gardening, I still have about 5 of them, the others got holey and out of shape after years of machine washing.

George at Asda used to be very stylish as you'd expect from George Davis (of Per Una fame). I have a lacy cardigan in a taupe colour that goes with lots of tops and dresses, I've had good wear out of it. I try not to wash woollens too often and they seem to last longer.

Tu has been awful this year, I haven't bought anything there for a while. Last thing was a pair of stretchy gold thread trousers which I got for £10 in the sale, and are great for Christmas, I just add different tops and a nice scarf. Just realised ,,, I'm wearing a nice pair of PJs from Tu range when their nightclothes were nice. £10.

Knickers have really gone downhill everywhere, not sure why, but I don't see any nice designs anymore so haven't bothered. I probably have too many anyway 😀

spottydinosaur · 09/08/2025 21:14

Tu has been brilliant recently. Jeans are great and I got a jacket in the sale today for £10. School pinafores are great too xx

itsme7 · 09/08/2025 21:17

Sainsbury’s has got some lovely pyjamas in - treated myself to two pairs. Both 100% cotton.

FurForksSake · 09/08/2025 21:23

I also have some really fun, nice pjs from tu at the moment. And a green knitted top I picked up in the sale.

pushthebuttonnn · 09/08/2025 21:27

No I don't. For the dc yes but for myself I like Next & Matalan mostly.

Fgfgfg · 09/08/2025 21:28

Morrison's do really good 3/4 sleeve t shirts and I've had a few good tops and cardigans which have lasted and washed well.
I haven't bought anything from Tu for ages because they haven't had anything I like.
Currently wearing a linen skirt from Costco and a Morrison's stripey t shirt.

junkmaail · 09/08/2025 21:37

Asda is alright for basics, pants and some pyjamas. I prefer Tu. I’ve got some very nice things form Tu/Sainsbury’s actually. I’ve seen much on offer in our local Tesco but see quite a few Instagram posts wearing some decent F&F things.

Matildahoney · 09/08/2025 21:40

@SirChenjins online they have some stuff in petite

JDM625 · 09/08/2025 21:41

Its luck of the draw depending on the season, style, your size, what is available etc. I can't say 1 supermarket clothing range outshines them all.

I've had some long lasting tops from M&S- I'd say generally better quality than some other brands. I also like Tu (Sainsburys) for some things. Our local Morrisons recently expanded and now sell clothes. I've bought a few cotton tops in there too but the rest seems very polyester.

Tesco did mens, cargo shorts last year that DH loves. I've also bought him basic, cotton polo shirts from Asda which have lasted well.
