Summery dress for dinner "Something elegant"

I'm looking for a dress for an annual dinner/event I attend, and am looking for ideas. It's held overseas in a hot country (could easily be 35degrees +), so needs to be summery and packable.

The dress code is "something elegant" for the ladies, and shirts / long trousers / dress shoes for the men. In the past I've worn things like a simple knee length navy linen dress with an embroidered 3/4 length sleeve jacket over the top, and flat shoes, which worked perfectly. I'd like something interesting, but not mad.

I'm a curvy 16-18 and relatively short at 5ft 3ins. I like blues / green / purples, and not afraid of patterns. I buy clothes from places like The Fold for work, East for home, Seasalt for boring t-shirts to wear with jeans, occasionally Phase 8 or Hobbs, but to be honest, I haven't been shopping for ages, so don't know where to look. Budget, up to £200ish, but less would be good.

One stipulation - absolutely no jumpsuits / playsuits. I look like a toddler, they just do not suit me at all.

Please help if you can.

I'd be heading straight to Monsoon either in the flesh or online.

Have a look at Sahara. The fabrics are lovely and they tend to be quite flown and loose fitting, so cool.
