Upper bleph gone wrong ????

Hi, looking to see if anyone can relate or heard of this. Had upper bleph 8 weeks ago and was very happy with results. However, 2 weeks ago my upper lids became extremely heavy and droopy again esp on one side. I am devastated as saved so hard and was so happy. I contacted surgeon who said give it another 6 weeks. Can’t see why it was fine then dropped? I did have an emergency operation 2 weeks ago but can’t see how it would relate as operation was nowhere near my face. Has anyone else experienced this??

Could you have Bell’s palsy?

ArcticBells · 05/08/2025 06:10

I think the surgeon should see you, not suggest waiting another 6 weeks

He said in another six weeks any swelling should have diminished hence 6 week appointment.

I would ask to go back sooner to the surgeon. It sounds like something has changed and specifically one eye. You don’t get swelling coming back after it has gone down already a few weeks ago.

Not Bell’s palsy as only one droopy eye lid ?
surgeon said I have to wait 6 weeks ? Def seems strange. He said recent ops I had could have caused a set back with lack of sleep etc ? Just trying to see if anyone else can relate

How extreme is it? Could you post pics?

I had an upper bleph, I went through a bit of a rollercoaster of feeling very happy with the results and then after a few weeks them looking wonky…. Then another few weeks later they weren’t wonky anymore! I think the swelling can last longer than you’d think (mine didn’t ’look’ swollen or anything but I think the tissue is very delicate so a small amount can affect how even/neat they look). I am now 6 months after my op and both eyelids are even, and I’m happy with the results. So I would be optimistic that yours will be fine.

I honestly thought that the pic with two eyes was the one from now! I don't see much difference now as your left eye was a little bit different - puffy? - from the beginning. Do you have a planned check up? I don't know what they were like before but it's a good job.

victorianbaby · 05/08/2025 16:09

Sorry lost the plot there. They all have two eyes! I meant the first photo. The second photo looks like there is more wrinkling at your left eye or is it hair?

Wiennetta · 05/08/2025 16:33

It’s a little difficult to tell with the pictures being from different angles and distances. But they don’t look that different - I agree with @victorianbaby.

I know it’s difficult but try not to hyper focus on small things at the moment, you’re still healing.

Are you still using ice packs and sleeping with your head elevated? That might help take down swelling. As will staying hydrated and looking after yourself.

Have you sent pics to your surgeon? I sent a pic to mine as I was worried about bruising and he came back with some reassurance and that made me feel better (and he was right in terms of his advice).

Sorry photo 1 and 3 are now. Photo 2 is before swelling. It’s hard to show in pictures.

I can't tell which photo is which so it's very minor. Swelling takes a long time to go down.

victorianbaby · 06/08/2025 12:42

Have you got a pic from before op?
