Does anyone know this brand? I like the look of their boho dresses but something about it looks a bit suspicious to me.
What is the quality like?

Have you looked on trustpilot?

There are countless fake businesses now. Either completely made up of drop shipping from Shein and the like.

Eggsbaconsausage · 02/08/2025 10:05

Ah yes thank you. Trust pilot reviews are terrible and it sounds like a con :-(
Glad I didn't order anything.

There are so many red flags that "Selby & Rose" is a scam I'm not sure where to begin.

The photos of the 2 "sisters" and their "shops" in London and Manchester are clearly fake.

Piles of meaningless guff but no hard details of who they are or real addresses or addresses for the "shops"

Completely random selections of clothes- no coherent house style.

Everything is already on a "sale price"

If you download a picture of any item and google lens it the results are available from numerous other dodgy "boutiques" or Amazon, Temu and Ali Express.

Here's the website and boho dress page

Boho dress

Here's the "French" version called Cela Paris- other "destinations" are available.

The only honest thing on Selby & Rose is this

"Return costs
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. At this time, we do not offer pre-paid return labels or reimbursements for return postage.
All returns are handled by our international logistics partner, with the return facility based in East Asia.Detailed return instructions will be provided upon request.
Send your return

Ship the item to the return address provided by our team. We recommend using a tracked shipping method to ensure safe delivery"

I hadn’t looked at the website but now I have and it’s dodgy as hell. Bold move to use a model with only one arm!

The clothes on the website are the complete opposite from the ones in the photo of the shop and the ones the alleged sisters are wearing.

"A modest atelier tucked away in Manchester's creative district" then they show a load of badly photoshopped, bog standard polyester horrors that Shein woild be ashamed to stock. LOL.

Hi I have ordered from this site and the items were very poor quality and the sizing is rediculous. I have emailed several times to return but no answer. DO NOT order from this site. I am now going down the Trading Standards route.

Edited

Trading Standards can’t help if it’s based in China which most of these sellers are.

Surely something can be done to stop this 'company,' and I use the word loosely, sending crap items to customers and then nothing. It took 2 weeks for my delivery to arrive. Now they do not respond to my emails ref returns.

EggandStress · 02/09/2025 15:11

There are so many ‘companies’ like this now. I get lots popping up on Instagram & Facebook.
I try to leave messages on their posts to tell people to look at their Trust Pilot reviews.

Selby & Rose have disappeared. This is what appears now.

There were many red flags on their site.

  1. Every item was "on sale"
  2. Masses of stock- items available in multiple colour options and multiple sizes.
  3. No coherent "house style" of what they sell.
  4. Reams of obvious piffle about who they are and "their story" but no actual facts.
  5. Photographs of the supposed store owners and their shops, which were obviously generic stock photos, which is easy to confirm as being stock photography via a google lens search
  6. The claim of having shops in London and Manchester, but Google couldn't find them.
  7. A Google lens search on any garment finds multiple sellers, of which Shein and Temu are the most respectable.

These sites are, at best, drop shipping webstore fronts to sell tat from China, which you might , eventually receive, or just scams who won't ever send anything.

I've never bought from Shein or Temu but they do at least, from what I've read here, send goods.

Never order from this scam company. I ordered 2 dresses. Took ages to arrive and then did so separetly. Ghastly cheap fabric and way too small, unable to get over my head! They are not a Manchester based company but from China. They send charming emails initially and offer you 25% back to avoid returning items. If you insist on a full refund and return, the address is a dodgy one in China, you have to pay return postage ( twice as items came in different packaging. So over £45 postage). I completed customs form and tracked parcels, took pics of tracking and forms and sent to S and R. Parcels have now been in Chinese customs for 4 months. Info on Chinese mail site is 8 pages in Chinese! Friend translated for me. Basically, they will not send on as address non existent and I will not get refund. I have lost over £100. Emails now to the company are completely ignored. Recently featured as a scam on Radio 4.
