If you're around 5 foot and a size 12, how on earth do you wear carrot or barrel jeans?

Or do you just steer well clear of them?

I've tried on a few pairs from different shops and they just shorten my short legs further, make my thighs look ginormous, and make my ample arse look huge. DH laughed when he saw me in a pair (before stifling the guffaws), and he's usually my biggest ally when I go clothes shopping - I could wear a sack and he'd still say I looked beautiful, bless him.

I’m 5’8 and a 10, and they’re horrific. It’s the jeans, not you!

I’m a bit taller than you (5ft 4), hourglass shaped 12-14 and I love them. Try loads on. I love the Abercrombie curve love version. Leave the husband at home. A lot of the hatred comes from the shock of seeing a different shape on I think. There’s no one shape that suits everyone though- the fantastic thing is that right now you can get any shape jeans!

I have a pair of barrel leg I love, BUT I think you need to balance the weirdness with sexy on top - so a fitted low cut body or lacy cami or sweetheart neck boob tube. I wear mine with a lacy, low cut camisole and a long black blazer and trainers. They’d look incredible with heels but life’s too short for uncomfortable feet so I wear trainers.

I think you have to consider the whole outfit with a fit like that. I’m 5 ft 6 and size 8-10

Bless you @Straightjacketsandroses - what you suggest sounds like it works for you, but at 56. 5 foot 1, with D cups and a menopausal stomach, my days of low cut lacy camis are long gone 😂

I was talking to DD about this today - she's 5 foot five, size 6 (and gorgeous - although I admit I might be biased), and she rightly said that if I don't think I look good in them then they are probably not for me - I need to feel comfortable in them. Sensible girl - she gets that from her mother.

@ErrolTheDragon - that did make me laugh!

I only wear what suits me whether in fashion or not. Skinny jeans look god awful on me because I'm slim but curvy, I love wide leg trousers but they look awful on me too. I wear straight leg or boot cut and they really make me look good.
