Spray tan newbie.

I’ve just booked to have my first ever spray tan.

Ive never bothered with tan before beyond a bit of gradual moisturiser tan stuff on my lower legs. But I’m going abroad for the first time ever and didn’t want to have my usual pasty white/blotchy pink hue on photos.

Now I’m nervous about it.

Can you use sunscreen over fake tan?
Will shaving my legs just scrape it off into the plug hole?
Will there be a weird disconnect between my neck and head if I don’t get my face done?

Any spray tan experts about who can advise please?

Sunscreen can make it fade more quickly as well as chlorine and salt water. I always find it doesn't last anywhere near as long when I'm on holiday as it does at home as everything just make it fade and go patchy a lot quicker

And yes, unless your face is tanned then it will definitely be noticable if you just stop at your neck. You could start using a gradual tanner on it though or add tanning drops to your moisturiser once you've had it done. I always get my face done as it means it matches and I don't have to worry about putting make up or anything on every day

I love a spray tan & always have one before my holiday!
make sure you exfoliate & moisturise the week before if possible. I’d also recommend not wearing deodorant the day of the appointment if poss(!) the aluminum in them can cause a horrible green tinge under the armpit.
wear loose clothes, old underwear and flip flops to the appointment and try to avoid washing up etc until you’ve washed off the tan.
I’d recommend getting your face done as well as your body else it might look a bit odd! I find mine lasts most of the week. By the time it’s facing my actual holiday tan is appearing so it’s not really noticeable.

Don’t use any moisturiser the day of the spray tan - the guide colour will come up green, and wear a loose t-shirt that doesn’t need a bra under for leaving afterwards. Get your face done - it feels odd but you’ll not match otherwise. And be prepared to feel like the Ready Brek kid for a couple of days afterwards, even with the lightest tan.

Thank you all, these are great tips 🙏🏻

As someone who shaves her legs every other day, should I try to stretch it out longer or is there a trick to shaving that won’t take the tan off?

I have a question as well, do you use make up and if so how do you know which colour foundation or concealer to get?
