Earrings hurting

I’ve never had this problem before and I’m hoping someone can help me with a solution. I’ve recently bought these earrings that I love but when I wear them they absolutely kill my ears, like the hinged backs feel like they’re slicing through the piercing. Has anyone had this? Are they faulty or really just too big?

Many thanks!

I don't know about a particular style but while I could wear ANYRTHING when I was younger and used to joke that I could turn a used fish hook into an earring, these days my ears are more sensitive. I absolutely have to always clean them with surgical spirits when I first buy them. Weirdly, every now and again a pair I've work for years will suddenly start to hurt - then I clean them again and bang, it's fine.

I will try that. I never even think to clean them. 😬

Clean them with TCP and dip the bit that goes thru your ear in Savlon. That said, I find that style of earring very uncomfortable.

The hinge is slightly wider and I think that’s what hurts. But I love the earrings 🤨
