Dickies?

AKA fake collars 🤣

Anyone ever used one? I love the look of a shirt under a jumper but I just end up too hot with with weird bumps where the shirt is.

The jumpers you can buy with sewn in fake collar/cuffs never look convincing (unless the convincing ones really are so convincing I dont even realise).

Do fake collars end up like that too or are they better and do look like full pieces of clothing? Do they stay put?

I quite like these two. There are younger models on the site too before anyone starts with agist nonsense. And yes, Howard from The Big Bang Theory wears one.

A work colleague of mine wears them, you can’t tell.

BugsyMaroon · 28/07/2025 06:56

I've also been thinking about these for the same reasons as you OP.

But yes, my first thought is 'Howard'.

I think the old fashioned lace collars were lovely. But perhaps uncomfortable if the bottom rides up to over the jumper collar or around your neck.

I'd feel about ninety wearing something like that, but each to their own.

Sgtmajormummy · 28/07/2025 07:04

Harry Styles wears them and he’s a fashion icon.
I have a few and they take away the stark round neckline of sweatshirts (Harriet on Clarkson’s Farm) and the itchiness of wool if it annoys you.
Less to wash and iron, so fine with me!

They are theoretically good for big busts as you don’t have two layers of material. I used to have a Dickie obsession but then realised I don’t really suit closed shirt collars (they still emphasise my bust).

FlatWhiteOrLatte · 28/07/2025 10:34

I have them but mostly end up wearing a light shirt underneath instead because I also like the cuffs showing

DrAmanitaPhalloides · 28/07/2025 10:56

OP, where is the second pic from?

I had a few of these during Covid lockdown wfh time but found they shifted a lot and didn’t actually work. The best was a Cos one which had kind of elastic straps that went round your body (not explaining that well!) so it did stay where it was supposed to be.
