If you were to buy any bag that would appreciate in value what would you buy? Could afford a birkin but can’t get on the list!

If you can afford £9-10k on a bag but you can’t get one then the next obvious choice for an investment piece would be a Chanel classic flap or 2.55.

Gucci 1961 bag will hold value but it won’t be in the same league as Hermes or Chanel for long term investment

Chanel bags don’t really hold value these days unless they are a rare piece. Resale value is in the pre 2018/19 models when the quality was far superior.
I sold a classic mini flap for almost 5k having bought it in 2015 for just over 2. The quality has hugely declined and the resale market reflects that.

Hold out for an Hermes offer if it’s a bag to use and love. Nothing compares to a Kelly or a Birkin. If you’re buying with only profit in mind just go to a re seller. You’ll pay more of course but you won’t have to play the long game.

There is a shop in London ( they also have branches in other parts of the world) that sell Hermes bags. I often watch the videos on YT. They are called Love Luxury, maybe watch some of their videos on YT and then think about going to them. This is if you don’t mind buying pre loved and often some of them are wishes that the owner doesn’t want or like anymore so sell with them.
