Best place for swimwear for teenage dd with big boobs

Dd is petite, size 8 bottom and narrow 30” back, but FF boobs and is getting very frustrated at finding bikinis. Everything I send her is apparently only suitable for 50 year old women! She likes Hollister but they end at DD for their bikini tops. Getting desperate, there have been tears involved.

Boux Avenue

Miss Mandalay are great quality. You can always try bravissimo too? (Not necessarily going to pass the ‘cool teen girl’ test tho)

WanderingGiraffe · 27/07/2025 14:10

When I was young and in same position I pretty much had to make do with triangle or bandeau- style bikini tops with tie backs (so I could buy the biggest size for coverage but tie them tight. Then could buy bottoms in the small size.

Superdry, Accessorize and some surf brands were what I mostly wore from memory…

Now I’m older I think Freya are good.

Have a look at belle lingerie for separates. I usually buy black bottoms and then a mix of bra sized tops

AwkwardPaws27 · 27/07/2025 14:36

Freya bikinis are great, I've had several over the years.

Oh yes, I’ve already had Bravissimo thrown back in my face!

Many of the triangle ones we’ve seen are tiny! I mean mostly is her fault for buying in Shein because clearly they are designed for an Asian market that is much much more petite across the top than your average European!

Curvy Kate?

Yes, I remember the difficulties I had. Lots tried on or returned for the occasional winner. Definitely need European sizing. V frustrating when young! Halter-style is a bit more predictable for coverage/support probably.

I don’t know what styles are super trendy for teenagers atm.

A lot of the Hollister ones are string type, which, sorry, with FF boobs she needs to accept she'll probably struggle with no matter where she gets them from. Even if they are 'sized up' for bigger boobs the string will be so uncomfortable because it will have to be very tight to hoist them up (speaking from experience).

She needs to go for fuller cup type ones or maybe retro styles. Might not be exactly the same as the ones her friends are buying but doesn't mean they can't still be fashionable.

Best bet would be to look somewhere where they specifically do ddplus sizes, and maybe be a bit more open minded? e.g. if you just look briefly at the 'main page' on next for example some of the designs look a bit older. But if you actually look at individual bikinis a lot of them (particularly the plainer ones) are indistinguishable from the ones in Hollister or Shein, to the point where if you didn't know which website they were from and cropped out the model's faces I doubt you'd be able to tell. some of these for example

Try Primark. They had a few styles with underwire cups at the beginning of June which my DD got for going away. They are 'proper' cup sizing, rather than s,m,l (although she went up a cup size to give more coverage) They had a couple of different options for bottoms as well. Not sure what they'll have left as the swimwear section was smaller this week in our local store, but definitely worth a look.

Confuzzleduzzled · 27/07/2025 15:29

My DD has found that a triangle bikini with tie back and tie halter straps 3 sizes too big works for her. She has a padded triangle bikini top from new look in a 14 and then bottoms in an 8.

pinotgrigiomum · 27/07/2025 15:39

Any bikini tops in size 30e?

SeanMean · 27/07/2025 15:41

I would suggest Pour Moi as well.

TaranFollt · 27/07/2025 15:50

I'm a similar shape - although size 10 now and 50... but I get the dilemma.
Could she mix and match? I.e get a bra size bikini top and the bottoms from anywhere.
I buy my swimwear from next online which has a huge selection of bra size bikini tops. May not pass for what a teenager likes, however.
Next online stock an array of brands - pour moi , Freya etc.
But given my age, I'm probably out of sync with the vibe....
