Perfect autumn scent

Yes, I know it’s not even August but I’m so over summer and looking to find the perfect autumn scent. I’m a fan of sandalwood and other woods/a very scents and find that anything floral or light lasts about 5 mins in me so I, definitely not a summer scent person - despite my long and abiding love for Maison Margiela Beach Walk and of course Lime, Basil and Mandarin.

Autumn time I wear Mumbai Noise (we’ll all year actually) and as well as MM Autumn Vibes, Under the Stars and Jazz Club. Also Shalimar - again all year.

so was wondering what recommendations might you have for new ans interesting scents for a woody autumn girl who can’t wait for the leaves to turn, the days to shorten ans thr burgundy t/dark green/rust clothes to come out.

Not new but Coromandel by Chanel. My all time autumn/winter scent. Not cheap!

Radioundermypillow · 26/07/2025 22:17

Diptyque Tempo
Sana Jardin, Tiger By Her Side

RedNine · 26/07/2025 22:28

Liz Earle No15 would suit very well I think.

Tiddlywinkly · 26/07/2025 22:29

You like MM, so I would suggest the smokey, woody (but quite sweet) By the Fireplace or one that has sandalwood, Afternoon delight.

I personally love Whispers in the Library.

catsmother · 26/07/2025 22:48

I was going to suggest By the Fireplace but see @Tiddlywinklyhas beaten me to it. This has great longevity and is a favourite.

I'd also recommend Tiger By Her Side by Sana Jardin, and Dark Rum by Malin and Goetz for Autumn. Have a look at their profiles on Fragrantica for notes and reviews but I love them both ... they're both what I think of as 'cosy' but classy scents (Tiger By Her Side in particular is long lasting).

MM by the fireplace
CK Obsession
4160tuesdays Shazam!
4160tuesdays Captured by candlelight
Gallivant Istanbul
Le Jardine retrouve Oriental sans souci

TheLeadbetterLife · 26/07/2025 23:56

I like Sana Jardin Incense Water in the Autumn and Winter. A gorgeous spicy rose.

Radioundermypillow · 27/07/2025 08:07

I also have a soft spot for Pomegranate Noir jo malone. It smells christmassy to me.

Coromandel or Cedre by Chanel
English Oak & Hazelnut by Jo Malone
Aromatics by Clinique (applied with a very light hand, can be overwhelming- I do the spray once and walk through when I wear this)
I don’t know what by D & S Durga (yes that is what it’s called!)

long lost and never forgotten, I wish they’d bring it back - Skin Scent by Ultima II

Radioundermypillow · 27/07/2025 09:53

Love Aromatics Elixir but agree its too much. Wish they'd bring out a spritzy version.

FloraBotticelli · 27/07/2025 09:58

You might like Nomad by Who is Elijah - it’s a woody, sandalwood type scent. Too heavy for summer but I might return to it in autumn! They do mini bottles / sample packs.

DialSquare · 27/07/2025 10:04

Auburn by Cos is really autumnal. They’ve just started selling perfumes and in my opinion, this is the best one. Not expensive either at £35.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/07/2025 10:23

My favourites for autumn are L’Air de Rien by Miller Harris, Diptyque Eau Duelle, MM Whispers in the Library, and (old school) Guerlain Mitsouko. I used to absolutely love MM By The Fireplace but last year it suddenly made me want to heave and I gave my bottle away!

NigelPonsonbySmallpiece · 27/07/2025 10:27

Tom Ford Tuscan leather sounds like it might suit you. Or maybe Oud wood

Britpopbaby · 27/07/2025 12:18

Poeme by Lancôme is my A/W perfume as it’s very warm imho. You can get it from Boots etc. https://www.lancome.co.uk/perfume/women-s-perfume/poeme/poeme/092025-LAC.html

Radioundermypillow · 27/07/2025 13:21

I'm surprised by all the MM love! I find their perfumes very one note and they dont seem to develop on me. Might have to retry! Dd loves Bubble Bath which I secretly think smells like Persil.

stclementine · 27/07/2025 14:09

These are fabulous, thank you! I feel as if I should have a signature scent by now (51) but find there are sooooo many gorgeous perfumes out there. Gojng to have fun trying these.
