Tucking tops. Is it over in your bit of the world?

Tucking seems to be mostly on its way out where I am. The hallf/French tuck is definitely over. Not sure if because it's summer and it will see a resurgence in September. Is it still happening elsewhere?

I haven't seen it for a while but I think it's because it's summer. What will happen when everyone is wearing jeans and jumpers again?

Probably is over but I look utterly shapeless if my t shirt is hanging loose, so I'm sticking with it for now.

what is the tuck supposed to achieve?

imo it looks as if someone couldn't be bothered checking their clothes after going to the loo.

I agree, if having your clothes half tucked in, half hanging out is a trend then DS is right on it.

I do it. I look like a beanpole if I don't. It gives me some shape.

It’ll never be over for me as I’ve never managed to keep my tops tucked in, so I was quite thrilled when it became a trend. But yeah, even to my eyes, I now just look messy again.

Or have I misunderstood the thread? If you’re asking about tucking your whole top in then I’m still seeing plenty of that round here.

I think the french/half tuck probably is 'over' especially as so many tops are more cropped/boxy atm. But I'll keep doing it when wearing longer tops with trousers/jeans, because I think it gives a better shape. Tops with skirts I don't always tuck (or I do a full tuck).

Gosh, it's complicated...

Ive never been able to manage a half tuck and not look like I cant dress myself properly.
I either do a full tuck or untucked depending on what Im wearing.

I tried half tuck once then I came out of the toilet and DH told me my top was caught in my trousers 😂 I gave up after that. I definitely gives a better shape though if I'm wearing an oversize/longer top.

I'm pleased to see the half tuck going, I always looked like a swiftly dressed teenage boy when I tried to pull it off.

Fashion has changes and baggy tops are in, so no need to tuck those. I still tuck into high waist jeans or pencil skirts, and will do with oversized jumpers next season too.

The half tuck always reminded me of Y7 PE where the teacher told everyone to tuck their shirts in and so everyone did a sort of messy half tuck because they wanted the teacher off their backs but also wanted to look cool. It looked worse than if they'd just been allowed to wear it untucked. I was chronically uncool because I always tucked my top in, but I just can't stand a draft up my belly and outdoor PE at our school always seemed to coincide with the most dismal bitter windy weather and the PE uniform was T-shirt and shorts all year round.

Half tucks look silly. So do full tucks on anyone over a size 10. I don’t know what the answer is!
