Please help me find a maxi dress

I’m in my late 40’s and have recently lost quite a bit of weight, so I’m having to buy a few new bits and pieces for my wardrobe. I’m also completely clueless about fashion and find it quite hard to pick out clothes in a shop. I think my problem is that I get very fixated on what I want, and when I can’t find it exactly, I give up.

Anyway, I really like maxi dresses and have been looking for one with no luck. Can anyone help?

Im 5ft 7 and size 14, size 36DD bust. Due to work I mostly wear casual shoes, like white Converse/Rocket Dog “sneakers”. In my head I think I’d like a green dress, but I’m open to suggestions (I have dark brown hair and fairly pale skin).

Id like something from the high street as I don’t like buying clothes online. Usual shops are Next, Fat Face and sometimes Weird Fish.

Any suggestions?

As I’m not in your local High Street or shopping mall I obviously can’t know what those shops contain - other than by looking online. Which you can surely do yourself?

Isn’t the added value of asking on S&B the fact that people might suggest brands you’re not familiar with?

The links people are posting all state for purchase online only

I’m completely confused!

How can people be suggesting brands without knowing exactly which shops are local to the OP?(And even if she does have those shops at the end of her street, she’ll probably have to order her exact size or colour online …)

I recently bought a maxi dress in Tesco. Pale blue chambray and you should be OK with the fit as it fits my 38 GG

Well unless the OP lives in a major city that's probably what she will have to do.

Anthropologie used to be good for this- see the Bettina and Somerset dresses.

On a "high street" budget imho the best maxi dresses are Nobody's Child and Joannie. M and S stock a small selection of Nobody's Child but neither have physical shops.

Thanks for these! I live in a city, so we have all the “standard” high street shops - Next, M&S, H&M, Zara etc.

I don’t mind buying online to get my size, if I can feel the fabric in the shop before ordering.

I guess I just don’t really know where to start, but the suggestions above have helped!

For the poster who asked about sleeves, I don’t really mind - probably my preference would be for short sleeves (rather than long or none).
