Forward Helix Piercing

I’ve been toying with the idea of this for a while, and stupidly fell down an Instagram rabbit hole last night, and now not so sure.

Can anyone tell me how sore this really is? Ideally I’d like a double piercing, maybe even a triple, although. It sure what my ear would allow for.

Does it just make more sense to get them done at the same time?

Is it possible to get pierced with a stone, or does it have to be just full metal for initial piercing?

I’m a side sleeper, so how long would it be before that was no longer an issue?

I’ve had my normal helix done, and can’t remember it being excruciating, but perhaps I have a short memory.

Thanks

This was my first piercing and it didn’t go well and took a long time to heal as it was pierced at an odd angle.
so my first advice would be to find a really good piercer. They can advise you on how whether a double or treble is possible with your anatomy. Some piercers have limit of 2 or 3 piercings at a time due to the pressure on the healing process.
my first piercing was plain titanium as you are unlikely to have any reactions but I subsequently have had gold earrings for first piercings.
if you are near Manchester I recommend Holier Than Thou.
all my piercings have hurt, the least painful was my conch, but it’s an individual response and a good piercer will be very quick!

I’ve got a double forward helix (done at the same time) in one ear and a single in the other. None of them were massively painful, more pinchy at the time. They do take a while to heal. Mine healed very well and quickly though. I use saline to clean, contact lens solution is good. I start cleaning mine twice a day for about a week, then I do the LITHA method (leave it the hell alone). Mine healed well like this, but others might not. I tried to avoid sleeping on that ear, but honestly I probably did sleep on it without realising.
Go to a good piercing, one that pierces with a needle. Piercings should be done with Titanium, it’s far better and less likely to cause a reaction. Some with piercing with only a metal ball, others will let you choose a decorative earring. It depends on your piercer. Have a look around in your area for piercers, probably at tattoo studios. Get in touch with them and ask about what they will pierce with, a good piercer will always be happy to answer any questions you have. I love mine, well worth getting it done in my opinion.

So first of all - Buy a piercing pillow.
As a recently pierced side sleeper it is a game changer & allows you to get to sleep with a new piercing. Also stops it healing funny.

It will be sore and the piercer might not do them all at once (Most I had done was 2 - Helix & flat) but take paracetamol with you for after & have something to eat before you go. Doesn't seem like it'd make a difference but it does.

My piercer used titanium & the little ball bits had a crystal on them.
She's now shut up shop and gone off to be a paliative care nurse.

This just goes to show that everyone is different - my conch was my most painful, at least until I got my rook done !

I have a forward helix and it has been done in such a way I can have the triple done. DC is put out that their ear isn’t right for that but mine is!

I would love a forward helix but I’m concerned with sleeping, I turn constantly in the night.
My conch was also the most painful and took at least six months to fully heal!

I’ve got a forward helix, I wanted a double/triple but my ears aren’t the right shape!

I had to sleep on the other side for a while but can’t remember it being too dire.
