Soft leather shoes

I think I’d have better luck finding a bloody unicorn!
About a decade ago I had some flat shoes ( I found a picture) that were kind of a cross between ballet flats and loafers made of butter soft leather. They were totally soft, with no rigidity at the heel - I’ve got extremely weird feet with mega high arches, long toes and boney heel spurs, so rigid shoes do not work at all, I spend my life in skechers pumps or soft trainers/ sandals.
I cannot wear ballet flats as they are too low cut at the front or mary jane types with a fixed strap. I want them to wear with dresses.

I can’t find anything that looks suitable online unless they cost a fortune in italian leather.
I’ve tried moshulu, clinkard, pavers, shuropody, clarks, next, brantano etc.
Any ideas?

These might be worth a try. Yes, I know they're from Amazon, but i bought a pair of ankle boots this brand just because I thought they looked nice, and oh my god they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever bought and yes, the leather is extremely soft. So I'm guessing anything in the range is worth trying, and these seem to fit what you're looking for. Reasonable price, too! Good luck!

Try Etsy! Search for soft leather shoes - there might be something suitable. Perhaps even someone who could replicate your current shoes.

Try Fitflop women’s delicato leather ballet flats, they fit in the large side so go a size down if you’re not sure. I’ve just bought a second oair as I really like them, they are well padded and I could wear them from new and walk a decent distance without having to break them in at all.

Sounds like the old model that Clarks made, Pure Tone, would be suitable. You might be able to get some online.

OPS & OPS look very similar. I have a couple of metallic pairs and they are supersoft (plus a calf hair pair that's quite stiff).

I second etsy. There are various sellers of Turkish handmade leather shoes that sound like what you might be after.

Noshadelamp · 20/07/2025 01:30

Hotter shoes might have something similar

Deichmann's Fifth Avenue range often features shoes of very soft, unstrucured leather. I got some loafer-type ones recently and they're wonderfully comfortable.

SqueamishHamish · 20/07/2025 08:30

Pikolinos brand might work. I have very difficult feet and never in my life have I found a pair of loafers that stay on my feet. These do, and they are lovely soft leather.

BorgQueen · 20/07/2025 08:44

I’d forgotten about Deichman, thanks.
I’m visiting a Hotter shop today as I’ve seen some coral loafers online that look the closest to what I need.
All those ballet flats look lovely but I’ve never tried on a pair that weren’t too low at the front due to my extremely long 2nd and 3rd toes, the shoes just look ridiculous on me, even the square toed version, you can see my toe ‘gaps’, for want of a better word and I find the extreme flatness uncomfy due to my high arches.
I’ve found out that my required style are Slipper cut loafers, apparently.
Thanks all.

I think you’ll find the correct terminology for those ‘gaps’ is toe cleveage! Good luck in your hunt today.

xplodingkitten · 20/07/2025 12:34

Pikolinos - beautiful soft leather loafers and sandals. They are expensive new but I've had good luck finding them new on Vinted and haven't paid more than £30.

OPS&OPS are amazing, the softest leather shoes have ever felt. They’re expensive but often have good sales.
