Hair dye/ bleach mess

Teen DC has natural v dark hair, dyed it permanently lighter, went a darkish ginger, looked pretty good. Now bleached over than and it's gone patchy orange-bronze/ blonde - eek. He is upset. I said he has to go to hairdressers and they can either bleach over to make it all blonde or dye it dark brown again. It is currently v short (an inch - a buzz cut) so I suppose that is something...any ideas??

Shave it off?

If he wants to do it at home dye it with a copper red colour and then a brown colour. The red will 'fill' it and the the brown should cover. Then do a conditioner treatment

Thanks. I suggested that. Will see what he says

If he has bleached it recently then I don't think a hairdresser would bleach it again. They normally want a gap between bleaching of a few weeks. I was told minimum 4 weeks.

Put a toner on it and stop messing about with bleach at home.

Thanks. I was thinking they could get it back to its dark brown colour or neutralise the orange so it goes blonde all over. I'll take him in and see what they say

If he's up for it I'd advise shaving it.

If not maybe bright red temporary colour? You're unlikely to get anything natural looking without a proper colour correction with a salon.

It'll grow out soon enough.

Hats are also good!

Yeah hats are good although he has a christening this weekend. I told him to style it out. Learning the hard way!

I'm going to ask hairdressers for options. I am looking at purple toner to try at home but to be honest want to hand it over to professionals at this point - ha ha
