You look very dehydrated. Also, do you exfoliate often?

BlueBlueBerries · 16/07/2025 15:17

What foundation are you using?

Aintitfunlivingintherealworld · 16/07/2025 16:19

It could be that I definitely don’t drink near enough water! Currently using L’Oréal infallible

You have a lot of ‘dead’ looking skin on your forehead.

You need to exfoliate.

This is lovely

I also like La Prairie mineral face exfoliator and Lancome rose sugar scrub.

Moat skin care ranges have an exfoliator or scrub.

wizzywig · 16/07/2025 17:03

I thought it was hyper pigmentation on your forehead.

BleachedJumper · 16/07/2025 17:05

Could you add a picture of your forehead before any make up is applied?

first suggestions would be drink loads of water. Chemical exfoliation to remove dead skin cells, mixing your foundation with a serum/milky toner so it’s less of a mask that sits over your skin.

stayathomer · 16/07/2025 17:08

What skin type are you usually? Any long lasting foundations are generally not for dry skin and so it may be that it’s sitting in patches? I’d also recommend a primer. Tread carefully with exfoliating depending on your skin type

Bpod1 · 16/07/2025 17:12

Use hyaluronic acid serum before moisturizer with spf. Then use a moisuring foundation like No7 or Charlotte Tilbury perfect glow

SloppyThePoodle · 16/07/2025 17:26

It looks a bit like melasma. Not much you can really do except use tinted mineral sunscreen and avoid the sun

Aintitfunlivingintherealworld · 16/07/2025 18:04

I do have hyper pigmentation on my face which came in my first pregnancy and never went away. I have mostly dry skin but it can get quite oily too.

any recommendations for budget friendly foundations/primers that might help. The £100 cream someone posted above is way out of budget.

Nevertrustacop · 16/07/2025 18:10

Fgs dead skin? She has melasma and is probably doing nothing wrong. OP you look fine. I'm sure you can achieve complete coverage if you want to, but I wouldn't bother.

MissyB1 · 16/07/2025 18:15

You dont need to spend a fortune. I have dry skin and use Cerave serum £16:50 and Elf Holy hydration face cream spf 30 £13.

Aintitfunlivingintherealworld · 16/07/2025 18:17

Skin without makeup, made me think it’s a my skin problem rather than I make up problem.

Come on, that's very expensive!

You have youth on your side.
Start a simple hyperpigmentation routine, I’d suggest skipping on traditional foundation and go to tinted SPF.
LaRochePosay Mela B wash,
Vit C serum (for the hyperpigmentation) and daily SPF 30-50
a gentle exfoliating product depending on your skin, mine can handle fine granular scrubs for others a chemical type is better.
Eucerin do a hyperpigmentation line

If you go down the exfoliation route, which is always useful, I recommend Pixi 'Retinol Tonic' , which you can get at Boots. I get rhrough a small bottle once a year. I use it once a week. I dampen some cotton wool, then put some of the Tonic, and wipe it over my face. on a Sunday evening. You might need it more often.

TheOGBethDuttton · 16/07/2025 18:47

Niacinamide oil from The Ordinary (about £10) would sort you out... it's great for hyperpigmenetstion but will also tackle the excess oil too. Another option is rosehip oil. For exfofliators, I actually like theh Soap and Glory one.

GivingUpFinally · 16/07/2025 18:59

Pixi glow tonic daily. Its about 18 quid a bottle but last months. Double cleanse so either wash face 2x or wash once then tone with the pixi glow tonic. Serum is ypur friend and if your foundation isn't going on smoothly add a drop of Serum to your foundation and then apply.

It's actually a myth that drinking more water hydrates your skin. If you were seriously dehydrated you might notice skin effects, but you're not likely to be seriously dehydrated.

Most of us get all the water we need from food and drink if we just drink when we're thirsty.

When people say you need to hydrate your skin what they actually mean is applying a barrier to stop the water from your skin evaporating so much.

I don’t think it’s a skin issue

you need to use a half decent moisturiser like Boots No 7 then wait about 10 minutes for it to sink in till you apply your foundation then wait another 10 minutes before using powder and applying the rest of your foundation

user7638490 · 16/07/2025 19:50

I would leave a longer gap between moisturising and applying foundation, to give it a while to absorb. Also make sure you aren’t using a drying cleanser. I switched to an oil based cleanser and it made a massive difference. I was using neutrogena before and it stripped my skin.

DancingNotDrowning · 16/07/2025 19:56

You need to leave a longer gap between moisturising and foundation or if you’re not averse to using a primer that will give you a much more even coverage

MeAndMyGhost · 16/07/2025 19:59

On an unrelated note (I'm sorry) I love your necklace! Are you able to share a link? 😊

GlastoNinja · 16/07/2025 19:59

I think your skin is lovely without foundation- why are you trying to cover it up?
