Issue with Vinted - Please HELP

Well, I need help as I do not know what to do, in the sense of what will be best…

Long intro, skip to the questions if background not needed:

A few days ago I opened Vinted while I was on the tube and saw a coat I like (basically Vinted knows I have been searching for it). There are not many available (3 or 4 seasons ago, was coveted even back then) and it is usually around the £150-£200 mark. This one was £50 and I was arriving to my destination so bought it without checking anything else.
When I got to work and was having a coffee I checked again and noticed the seller was a completely new profile, no feedback at all. In the end I noticed the pictures this seller has used has been taken from another ad, a legit seller selling the coat for £200.

I messaged the seller asking a question about delivery as the system had not offered me many options but the seller never replied. I asked another question just to check if they replied but they never replied. I messaged Vinted that night and asked them what to do and I got an automatic response suggesting me to cancel the transaction, which I did, but the seller never came back to me confirming cancellation. Then, the following night, I received a message about the seller having posted the coat despite my cancellation attempt. I contacted the seller but again, no response. And now if I try to access the item I bough I cannot see the ad (“Something went wrong. Content not found”) and the seller appears as “member blocked” although I have not blocked them.

I have been trying to sort this out with Vinted but I cannot get past the automatic responses. In the meantime I have noticed this seller uploads the same coat 3 or 4 times per day, always from a new profile (26 I have counted in one week), with the same pictures and a price around the £50 mark. I have been reporting their ads and sometimes they uphold my report, other times they claim “the content doesn’t violate our community standards”.

The coat (or whatever this person has posted) is now in a parcel shop but I do not intend to collect it as I do not think this is the real deal and do not want the faff of having to record myself opening the parcel, etc.

Questions:

  • I understand I will get a refund if I do not collect the parcel. However, what happens if the seller does not collect it once it is returned? At what point does Vinted refund my money?
  • Do I need to do anything? (apart from not marking the parcel as received. This is the first time something like this has happened to me!
  • Is there any way of contacting a real human being at Vinted?
  • If you have read everything, what would you do?

Are you sure you'll get a refund if you don't pick it up? I sent something once and my buyer just never bothered picking it up. The money was never taken back from me!

Yes this happened to me (bloody In Post only give you 3 days)

I got a refund minus the postage - no idea what happened on the seller’s side though.

Namechangerage · 14/07/2025 18:03

I think I did have to wait until the seller picked it up - I am guessing that if they don’t, you could chase Vinted to refund you as long as you have proof of you not picking it up?

Namechangerage · 14/07/2025 18:04

Checked back and my refund came 14 days after I didn’t pick it up.

I was caught like this too. The seller sent me a photograph of a label but there was no tracking information and nothing ever came. I started an online claim at the first opportunity, that is, when it's clear it's not coming, something like 30 working days. I did get a refund although I can't remember now if it included postage or not. It's sickening. And very slow.

As far as I know they return it to the seller's address, not a parcel shop so it won't need collecting.

Any tips for contacting Vinted?

Try emailing them on this: [email protected]

Good luck

If you search some of the other Vinted posts there is one on several of them, I think it might be [email protected] but not 100pc sure.

The buyer doesn’t get any money until you collect the item and confirm you are happy with it. So just do nothing - don’t collect the parcel (which as I’m sure you’ve guessed won’t have the coat in it) and the transaction will be cancelled

Mencia · 15/07/2025 14:47

They have finally acknowledged the issue, suspended the transaction and refunded. Also promised to investigate the multi user scam.
Did not need to email legal; managed to gain access to a real person after quoting GDPR and identity theft concerns.

So I imagine they've sent you a completely different item.
At the moment, I have had a parcel that I sold, the house at the other end was empty, and the parcel has been returned to me.
The refund won't be issued to the buyer until I've pressed that it's been returned and received, even though there's tracking.
If they don't click received, which it doesn't sound like they can if they've been deleted, you might not get a refund.
Try messaging Vinted again, a couple of times a day, to try and get a different answer (I've had 3 no's before when someone else has fixed a problem at the same time).
You can consider collecting it, and having someone with you while you record it being collected and opened straight away?

X post, glad you're sorted ☺️
