Swimming pool cover up

Not quite sure what I'm looking for here but hopefully you can all help me with some ideas!

I'm taking ds (2) away on holiday soon and I've a lovely swimsuit and I generally enjoy making an effort to be fashionable on holiday as I don't usually get to much at home with the job I do and running around after ds. So I really enjoy it on holiday because it feels like I have a 'reason' to be a bit more glam.

I'm trying to find a cover up that I can wear in the pool that will cover my back and shoulders, but not a rash vest as I carry weight in my stomach and I think it would look really unflattering and I'd feel uncomfortable. I have a bit of overhang after a section and while I don't mind it, I need the support of a full swimsuit. Anything like a tankini is just not my friend.

I'm mainly worried about burning on my back/shoulders when we're in the water as its just me and ds going, so I was half thinking of wearing a lightweight tie front shirt or t-shirt when we're in the water that i can take off and dry out easily when we're in the shade but maybe this might look strange? Got lots of good recommendations for applying spf solo which I'll try but I want to be careful as I burn easy.

It sounds silly to say but I'm curvy and I really don't want it to look like I'm only wearing a cover to hide myself because i feel quite confident and the only issue is that I don't want to burn and I'm aware that I might not be able to spf all parts of my back and shoulders properly.

Any ideas for what would do this job but still look good/ not totally out of place in the pool?

I’ve got a long sleep swimming costume that I use for sea swimming that is good for preventing sunburn when you’re sticking out of the water for ages. It’s not hot and sweaty, dries quickly when you take it off and doesn’t look like you’re trying to hide away. Mine has some kind of sun protection built into the fabric as well apparently.

Yes I agree a long sleeved swimsuit would suit your needs. There are some lovely ones about. I’m lusting after this Cynthia Rowley number:

A T shirt that you knot at the front so it looked cropped would be fine.

Agree, long sleeved swimsuits look great. The problem with wearing something that’s not proper swimwear is that it probably won’t last well in the chlorine.

If you have sunscreen on and avoid the middle of the day you shouldn't really burn...

I also burn super easily but can just about wear a rash vest. In the past I’ve worn a cheap oversized polyester beach kaftan in the sea and it’s been ok as it doesn’t hold water and dries super fast. Horrible when dry and sweaty though.
if I didn’t have my rash vest I’d probably have some fun cutting up and customising a cheap loose fitting graphic T from H&M. Make it cropped to get rid of the weight, maybe trying to create a fringe 80s style.
