Would this skirt would be suitable for an evening guest for a wedding in December? If so, any ideas what to wear with it?

My personal opinion is that it's a bit too casual but I suppose it depends what it's teamed with

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 12/07/2025 16:39

No

heldinadream · 12/07/2025 16:40

Too see-through, too hippy, too black.
Nothing wrong with a long skirt in one colour but not this one.

It's for the evening not the wedding

I still wouldn't wear it for a wedding but again, that's my opinion...OP asked for opinions

Black- No
See through- No
£169- No
Polyester-No
Nice and warm- No
Formal enough for a wedding- No

6 reasons I personally wouldn't wear it to a wedding. Obviously if the theme was see through, goth, overpriced, plastic skirts, then it absolutely fits the bill!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 12/07/2025 16:51

I would wear it with a skinny-rib top, either angora or sequinned.

I don’t need “nice and warm” clothes to a wedding in December - I won’t be outdoors! Also I wouldn’t think see through (it’s got an underskirt) would an issue given how much “flesh” is there at weddings 😆 re not formal enough - we just there fore evening party not the ceremony!
It’s actually very soft fabric and hungs really well - not all polyester is awful nowadays.
I’m looking for a fun skirt for holidays and this has cought my eye. It’s a little pricey for a skirt but if could also wear it for occasion then would not mind spending the money.
Perhaps with something sequinny? And nice pair of heels? Just I’m not great with putting clothes together … and therefore usually go for dresses… but would like to try something different.

Why are you asking if it’s suitable, and then disagreeing as soon as someone says it’s not?

Seems like you have already decided it’s suitable, you just want suggestions what to wear with it?

madaboutpurple · 12/07/2025 21:07

I would choose a colour for a wedding, not black.

Gymbunny2025 · 12/07/2025 21:23

I think it’s nice. Don’t see why not

Wiennetta · 12/07/2025 21:38

It doesn’t shout winter wedding to me. It looks like a summery boho type skirt. I think you might be able to style it for a wedding but it would quite possibly look like you hadn’t really had any other options in your wardrobe and just had to make do.

I agree.

I wouldn’t choose it for all the reasons JDM sets out.

Why are you looking now, not nearer the time when shops will be full of appropriate stuff?

RandalsAunty · 12/07/2025 22:47

Ok, so if a ‘no’ then. ☺️

Fine for just the evening.

Inthesmallclouds · 13/07/2025 07:38

It’s really lovely and absolutely fine for a wedding!

I like to be organised ☺️, also I’m looking for something that I could re-wear…

to those that like it… what would you wear it with?

OP posts:
Gymbunny2025 · 13/07/2025 16:28

I’d probably wear it with gold. But also would probably change my mind when all the A/W comes out looking beautiful 😂

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/07/2025 16:39

No. It’s too goth. Would need a pretty summer top and sandals to ungoth it imo.
