Blemish free bum

Unfortunately this has been a problem for me for some time.

I'm heading on a beach holiday next week and realise I should have perhaps started prepping for this earlier.

I have PCOS so have a little more hair than most. Plus I cycle very regularly and this certainly doesn't help, so I think it's a combination of hormones and also my physical activity. I shave up to the top of my thigh and this probably doesn't help.

I get the odd spot or two most of the time which isn't really a problem unless I need to wear a bikini and I just want to avoid it this year. They appear around my bum cheek crease and also my lower bum cheeks. Basically anywhere I weight bear when I sit.

Has anyone got any suggestions on how to have a blemish free bum?

And apologies for the overshare.

Palmers coco butter
glycolic acids to exfoliate daily

And stop shaving
wax or laser

Wear natural breathable fabrics...I read that gym clothing is the worst. Also if you sit down a lot make sure you get up frequently.

Shower asap after exercise

Exfoliant like a glycolic acid as pp said. The Inkey List do a glycolic acid stick which could be good for you.

I used to get the same but they always cleared up within a day or so in the sun. So hopefully it won’t be for long even if you do have a few at the start.

This
use it last in the shower, lather in your hands and let it sit on the skin for a minute or so before you rinse it off
it cleared my back acne when even GP prescribed stuff didn’t work

Oh I'm going to give that a go for my back.

Fellow PCOS, agree on the sun too - I used to have horrible acne on back/chest/even upper arms and sun always helped. Also E45 emollient cream wash helped me - when my body spots were bad anything acidic just inflamed it.

Sudocreme does the trick for me but needs regular application and takes a week or so to clear skin up

ReluctantBikini · 12/07/2025 11:10

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I have the Phillips Lumea at the back of my wardrobe so will dig that out. The soap option seems affordable too.

I'll also dive straight in the shower after cycling. I usually have starving teenagers after I return home cycling but my bum needs to take priority!

It’s got gritty bits in so I used a back brush to apply it, I figured if it didn’t work then it wasn’t expensive and I still had a bar of soap for my hands or whatever
the GP had given me duac I think it was called, the spots were so painful and it didn’t work

Hi the I would go lush and get a mask for hormone or breakout or get salvon healing gel and put on even if it is insect bite hope this helps x

Try and get a bit of time to get some Sun on your spotty bits before the holiday. Failing that, if they are really bad use some cover up make up stick.

ReluctantBikini · 16/07/2025 23:40

Thank you all.

I've followed so many tips. I've probably left it a little late for this years holiday but I'm taking my lotions, potions and exfoliating sponge with me.
